Description

Learn to shatter the sky with lightning and shower the earth with fire. Summon heroes to aid your people, and plagues to destroy the enemy. The second installment of Bullfrog's Populous series follows the path set by its predecessor and remains one of the greatest god-games ever created. Populous 2: Trials of the Olympian Gods vastly improves the formula by adding new spells, better quality sound and graphics, and a character development system that allows you to customize your divine powers in any way you want. You really can’t go wrong with a game where you can kill gods, obliterate entire continents, and strike down upon the infidels with great vengeance and furious anger. Not really Multiplayer on modern PCs

This game has a win32 installer but runs in dosbox, which creates numerous issues for Wine. To get a 2-player game working over LAN, dosbox must be opened from a shortcut so that the correct config settings are loaded. This is probably just putting some flags after the .exe, but in Wine this becomes obscure. What I need from GOG is a dos installer (or just to unzip the game directory) and instructions for the config files. From the in-game UI for multiplayer it seems that the client and host must save each others' IP addresses into config files. It doesn't work out of the box, and it doesn't have any provided instructions - so I don't think it should be listed as Multiplayer.

Too fast on my computer. Very clunky. Not fun at all. At least i tried it.

I reamber how fun it was to make city leting groew and just be evil. takes me back to when i was young great game it up there with any "real RTS" by that i mean building thing keeping your people safe and putting the evil guy in too ash. ok maybe i was little evil with the game but sitll hell fun!

Multiplayer doesn't work

Really fun game, just like I remember it. However, the multiplayer option doesn't seem to work, so be warned (at least with Windows 7). Hopefully GoG will update the Dosbox scripts to fix multiplayer.

Doesn't play well on fast PCs

This game and the original have captured many hours of my time in the past. Populous I plays fairly well on a PC, but this guy just doesn't. It plays at such a high speed that it is impossible to do anything. I couldn't figure out how to slow it down. If I could do that, then it would probably be a better game than the original.
