Great little title...

I have yet to review a game on GOG but was compelled when Pirates Gold! showed up. The reason being is that this was one of the first games I sat with my young son and played. As we played, there was a mission to find your sister or go after buried treasure. We went after the buried treasure but my son said to me "If this was real life...I'd go find my sister." Yes, this is a great game.

Bugs, bugs, bugs

You cannot select the sword before a fight in this version. It should be possible to choose from rapier, longsword, and cutlass. Cursor key control is erratic at best in ship fights. Ship sailing speed seems too slow in pinnace vs pinnace combat.

Defining game

My friends and I played this game in college. It was being played nearly 24 hours a day. We wore the disk out, and taped it until the disk was in such bad shape that we had to replace it. Microprose gladly sent us a new copy for free. What every happened to those kinds of game companies?
