Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions and over 100 gameplay hours in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered Pharaoh.
Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A Pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.
Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.

Game is fun, I really enjoy to play it. One star is missing... I think the UI could be improved a little to be more intuitive. Navigating through buildings, layers and overseers feels somehow less intuitive as in the original game.
As someone who has wasted too much time of their life on the original Pharaoh, I was curious to see the new one. I love it. It looks fresh, clean and beautiful and I LOVE what they did with the music. You can feel the respect and love the devs have for the original, and I applaud them for staying true to the original while also trying a few new things (but not too much). The music of Pharaoh was always amazing and definitely one of the reasons I could get lost in the game. For this edition, I really like what they did with the music. The tunes are the same, but made richer with the real instruments. And the walkers even have the same voices. Love that.
UI takes a while to get used to if you are used to the old Pharaoh. After playing a while, I actually like the new building UI. Not yet sure about the overseers. Overall a great remake and I'm gonna spend a LOT more time building these pyramids and mastabas.
For a "remake" from scratch of a great game, this is a great game.
Is it buggy, damn right it is. The one huge thing people seem to overlook is IT'S HERE and it's more than good.
It's definitely worth the price tag. These kind of games need a new blood in new gamers so we can have more remakes and better ones.
I still think this one gonna get better as time goes on and for the people who don't like it they can still play the original that's sold in here.
My only gripes with this game are that there's no minimap, combat has been practically removed (my biggest gripe), and the walker animations look straight out of a freemium mobile game.
The new buildings, map tiles, and backgrounds are simply gorgeous. The art style is a bit more cartoonish, but that's hard to avoid when you have a small team re-creating dozens of assets from scratch in HD while staying true to the originals. If you're initially put off by the new art, you'll likely warm up to it after a few hours of playing the game. The re-recorded music using Middle Eastern instruments is also very well-done, and like the map tiles, the best way to warm up to it is to simply immerse yourself in it while playing. Using the original voice acting is a very nice touch as well.
The remake introduces several quality-of-life improvements to gameplay. When placing buildings, walker spawn and return points are clearly shown. There is an option to enable a global worker pool like in Zeus and Emperor, removing the need for slums in industrial areas. Docks and bazaars can now toggle which goods they process, like how granaries and storage yards could in the original, and all of these distribution buildings can now be set to refuse all goods by default. And as a nice added touch, all square buildings can now be rotated to a mirrored version, complete with re-shaded map art. These improvements vastly outweigh the negatives in my opinion.
Many of this game's negative reviews nitpick minor issues, and are likely written by people who never would have been satisfied with any remake, much less one as faithful as this. Remember Majesty's mobile game remake? Or worse, Atari's recent treatment of Roller Coaster Tycoon? Pharaoh: A New Era is a faithful remake of a timeless classic, accessible to a new audience and with a 2023 release date permanently fixed to its name. That is priceless. Here's hoping it helps inspire a new generation of isometric walker-based city-builders!
I used to like the old version of the game, but this game is really something nice. I am deeply impressed by the new HD version, the intuative gameplay mechanics, how easy it is to learn, play and understand. The videos in the game are also impressive, and the sound and music is also impressive. The maps seem even more "alive" with birds and flowing water and animations when people work.
It´s well worth the money I spent on buying it.
I like it a lot. Well done! =)
