Good First Impressions
I am a few hours into the career mode so my impressions may be a little rose-colored right now. Ever since grade 9 or 10 (roughly 15 years), I've loved tinkering in my PC's. This game has scratched the itch so far for the rote tasks like making sure cables are attached, RAM is in the correct slots, correctly pairing CPU's and motherboards. Slowly, steadily increasing your profit and reputation through attention to detail and customer happiness feels very satisfying. I thought that I might get a couple of relaxing hours of virtual PC building from this game, but I now find myself glued to the career mode. I look forward to seeing what the free build mode experience will offer. This game does use a tricky UI but offers good gamepad support, if you're so inclined. I play on a 4K monitor (GTX 1070, Core i7 6700k) but as poorly optimized as this game's engine seems to be, I set the resolution to 3200x1800 to allow it to remain above 60 fps at all times. When you are zoomed in on a PC's guts, that fps can get very choppy. This is generally okay though because of the otherwise visually bare aesthetic of the game and the default workshop.
