Discover the Story
Your path will lead you to the Worldwound, where the opening of a rift to the Abyss has unleashed all-consuming terror across the land. For over a century, the neighboring nations have fought fearlessly, trying to drive the enemy back — but to little avail.
Now, you have the chance to put an end to this conflict, but the path to salvation is far from clear-cut. Will you become a shining angel, backed by noble paladins? Or a powerful necromancer with hordes of immortal undead in your thrall? Or something else entirely? Lead your army and challenge mighty demon lords. Your crusade will set in motion a chain of events that will leave you — and the world itself — forever changed.
PLAY YOUR HERO, YOUR WAY
Create any character imaginable with the flexibility, richness, and depth of the Pathfinder First Edition ruleset. Choose from 25 classes, 12 character races, and more than a thousand spells, feats, and abilities to suit your personal playstyle.
FOR EVERY CHOICE, A CONSEQUENCE
Your decisions have more weight than ever before. Your goal is clear, but you must forge your own path to it. Who will die, and who will live? Who will stay, and who will go? Make your choices, and watch the world around you change.
A NEW WAY TO FIGHT
Enjoy two combat modes as you slay your enemies – real-time with pause or turn-based. Switch between them on the fly, so you can always take things as slowly — or as quickly — as you like. The unique Pathfinder ruleset also allows you to perform advanced combat maneuvers, like mounted combat. Use them wisely!
GATHER YOUR PARTY
A cast of more than 10 unique companions is ready to join your cause. Earn their trust and respect, and they will have your back no matter what dangers lie ahead. And if you get on their bad side, well… Maybe it’s time to part ways.
LEAD THE CRUSADE
You will need much more than a party of adventurers to cleanse the land of its demonic scourge. Take command of the crusaders and lead them to victory – both as a strategist, controlling the battle from above, and as a field commander, in a new tactical combat mode.
CHOOSE YOUR PATH
Explore nine unique Mythic Paths: obtain extraordinary abilities and shape everything that comes next. Your decisions might transform you into a celestial Angel, a raging Demon, a powerful Lich, a cunning Trickster, an otherworldly Aeon, a rebellious Azata, a wise Gold Dragon, an insatiable Swarm That Walks — or remain mortal and walk the arduous path toward becoming a living Legend.

I have played Pathfinder - WotR both in vanilla and heavily modded and it's great in both ways... from my perspective. Especially modded, it has tons of classes, spells etc. very nice turn-based combat and the character creation is nice as well. It's no Baldur's Gate 3, but which game is?
Graphics are decend as are sound and UI. Is there room for imporvement? Sure is, but even in this state, WotR is better than 90% of other games of that genre.
I am not an expert on coding or spyware, but I can't confirm noticing any spyware nor any decrease in performance of my PC.
The game is fun and I personally like the story. It offers hour among hour of entertainment and I would say, it's a sure buy. Especially on a sale.
Unfortunately, just too many parts of the game don't work correctly. Even so long after the release.
Abilities, spells, feats, items, and so on.
This state of the game makes playing it frustrating, especially on the higher difficulties.
I was not expecting the game to be great when I initially backed it, the challenge of making such an epic story work seemed to be a recipe for disaster and oh how I was wrong.
If you've played Pathfinder: Kingmaker before:
All of the stuff that was good in Kingmaker is still good there and there's even more on the side of customisation of your character, more options for character builds. There's great memorable characters. The crusade mechanic is not for everyone but it is much less demanding than Kingmaker's realm management so it serves the purpose of making you feel like a hero commander.
Is it the perfect game? Certainly not, it's got a few things that could be better but no game is perfect. However, it is great and definitely a success if you're not repulsed by the setting.
If you haven't played Pathfinder: Kingmaker before:
Gameplay wise:
This game truly is in the same vein as Baldur's Gate but up to modern standards. It has both Turn-based and Real Time With Pause fights implementations. The pathfinder system gives a lot of depth to the system if you enjoy breaking balance but it also has a lot of difficulty options if you'd rather not focus on the fights.
Story wise:
It is grandiose, it is epic, can't be for everyone but the game is good at making you feel the epic scale of the story. The game moves away really quickly from the "nobody who grinds up the ranks" trope of most similar games to get into epic scale fights and battles. In this game, you'll deal with cosmic beings and become respected or feared by foes that were impressive in others.
This game has a lot of options to let you build characters with very different vibes. Not all the options are great in quality but all of the ones I've played have been at least good.
The game is pretty long so you may get burnt out before end but even if you do, it's still a good time and you can always come back to it another time!
5/5, not for perfection but for great fucking game!
This game is ambitious and complex. Your decisions during character creation and levelling will have a major impact on how effective your character will be in combat. There are plenty of races, classes and subclasses. The graphics and gameplay are enjoyable and challenging in places.
The story is cool and I found the world building to be fun also although I don't usually go world building in games. Navigation around the huge map can be tedious and slow necessitating regular rests. The Pathfinder games require perseverance but the rewards are there if you build a decent character that suits your playstyle. The story is worth it and the game offers hours of fun and exploration with great combat.
This is a good game and I would probably enjoy leaving a positive review at some point, however:
As of 15/10 I can no longer play the game. It crashes on launch, leaving the Unity 2019.4.26f1_e0392c6b2363 error. I have tried fixing this so I can play it, but since I can see more people are experiencing this issue and I have tried following all guidelines I feel like I might wait till the developers hopefully fix this issue. Until then, I will leave this negative review, which I will gladly remove when/if this issue is being fixed.
