This new DLC for Pathfinder:Kingmaker includes:
A new playable race. During the poll to decide which bonus race we were going to add to the game, one particular option was requested a lot (besides the winner - Aasimars): Tieflings, the people with a drop of demonic blood in their veins. They didn't make it into the base game, but became the natural choice for the first piece of post-release content.
A new playable class. They master the raw power of the elements, channeling it into their wild talents to manipulate the world around them. Kineticists are living conduits of primal energy, deadly both in close and ranged combat.
A new companion. If you combine a race with a class, you get a character. Welcome your new companion, the Tiefling Kineticist who comes, just like every other companion, with her own storyline. She could also be a romance option and may hold one of the positions in the Kingdom.
The new companion will join your party in the beginning of Chapter 2. Those who would like to add the companion to their current playthrough can do so at any point before the end of Chapter 5 ("War of the River Kings"): the companion will ask for an audience at your throne room. However, we would advise to begin your acquaintance with the character as soon as possible.
Great game, main problems i've seen on internet or from other players, come from their lack of knowledge of the paper version of Pathfinder.
BUT many bugs are still there (some places with quest still teling that we had more to do in the place even when we have finished) and more importantly, the game doen't recognize when we have the wildcards dlc, can't continue my game because it tells me that i need a dlc i HAVE...
Firstly, "MrRezarius" was complaining about the pricing and he is simply wrong. The DLC is $8 not $11.50, same pricing as steam. But on to the review...
Tieflings are a terrific race and a great addition. They have a rich and storied history full of interesting roleplaying ideas. Its probably my favorite race to play as, just a pity it had to be a paid DLC, but thats how games do it these days. So with this paid DLC we get the option of playing as a tiefling, and we also get a cool tiefling companion. Really not bad.
The problem is the utter lack of portrait options. But that's always a problem for these games - we're forced to load up custom artwork like mods for the game. I pay $8 for a new race and get 1 portrait option!?! That part's insulting.
Bottom line: I love Tieflings and have a lot of hope for this game growing and improving. If you feel similarly buy the $8 DLC and support the game.
$7.99 USD gets you one new companion, one new race, and one new class. There are many better purchases on GOG that are actually actual full on classic and indie games for about the same price or less, however, this does bring something to the table if you're really really into Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Tiefling is a classic DnD/Pathfinder player race, that compliments many different class options. There's multiple types of Tieflings too, with their own stat adjustments, based on their Demonic or Infernal heritage. The cosmetics of the Tiefling are fairly robust compared to other player races. The new class is Kineticist, for all your Avatar: The Last Airbender type RP needs and elemental combat powers. The new companion is very fleshed out and fits well into the grand scheme of your party, but I feel as if maybe she should have been in the basic game all along. IDK, I bought it, I don't regret it, it adds a fair amount of useful options, but $8 dollars is a lot for what's essentially a mid sized addon. 3/5.
get it whether you gotta wait for a sale or what have you, it's totally worth it just to have the option to make a tiefling. It's like having the Players Handbook and not being able to play a certain class because its locked and now you want to play it because you cant.
