This new DLC for Pathfinder:Kingmaker includes:
A new playable race. During the poll to decide which bonus race we were going to add to the game, one particular option was requested a lot (besides the winner - Aasimars): Tieflings, the people with a drop of demonic blood in their veins. They didn't make it into the base game, but became the natural choice for the first piece of post-release content.
A new playable class. They master the raw power of the elements, channeling it into their wild talents to manipulate the world around them. Kineticists are living conduits of primal energy, deadly both in close and ranged combat.
A new companion. If you combine a race with a class, you get a character. Welcome your new companion, the Tiefling Kineticist who comes, just like every other companion, with her own storyline. She could also be a romance option and may hold one of the positions in the Kingdom.
The new companion will join your party in the beginning of Chapter 2. Those who would like to add the companion to their current playthrough can do so at any point before the end of Chapter 5 ("War of the River Kings"): the companion will ask for an audience at your throne room. However, we would advise to begin your acquaintance with the character as soon as possible.
New class, race and companion adds slot to the game and I will surely play through again making use of all 3 added elements in full.
I see afew comments about the price of this DLC versus buying other complete games or what not, but each to their own, the DLC is flavour only - completely optional.
Adds Tiefling Race, Kineticist class, and 1/2 companions in a rather unique situation.
The race is powerful, enough to give you pause between standard Human/Aasimar conundrum, mostly due to Motherless subrace of Tiefling, which gets a free bite that helps with Bite/Trip stacking.
Kineticist as a class is absolutely broken, to the point where a lot of encounters become super-easy due to their cheese. I personally avoid playing the class and pretend it does not exist for the sake of my own "artificial and fair difficulty", but hey, maybe you like that kind of thing!
The companions are...well, barebones I suppose. You do notice that it's a DLC: they do not have party-camp banter, their quests are somewhat boring and their presence is non-existent outside of intro and 3 hastily made zones for the DLC's sake. Yes, they do comment on some main quests from time to time, but that's about it. From gameplay perspective they're probably the strongest companions you can have in this game, assuming you know how to use and abuse the Kineticist classes, if you don't, they're kinda meh. You can also romance them I suppose (both even), if you're into that kind of thing, I usually however do not care much about those in games, thus it had very little appeal to me.
Honestly, safe to skip unless you're into romance and munchkism, or buy on sale I suppose.
(I've tried to do my research online regarding the banter, and some sources say that they do indeed have banter, but when I tried to spam rest to see if they had, I never saw anything.)
Bought this game about two weeks ago. 173h into it despite being in the middle of winter session exams. Played ID1&2, BG1&2, Neverwinter and PoE1&2, and in my view this game is, content-wise, way more engaging than PoE2, and way more faithful to traditional D&D settings. No bugs and no problems thus far. I highly advise ppl to outright discard any 1/5 reviews (and 5/5 too, perhaps) ;))
I cannot say much without spoiliing it, but the new character introduced in this DLC was the biggest surprise for me in several ways in any cRPG I have played. You will not regret buying this.
