Description

An island outside of reality. A rogue human civilization hoping to resurrect dead alien gods. A murder behind locked doors.

Paradise is an island that regenerates every few millennia. The psychic power that the alien worshipers within release into the universe is meant to feed and eventually resurrect their fallen deities. But this force also attracts undesired interest from demons, who eventually corrupt each island — until a new alternate reality is birthed by the Council.

The system isn’t perfect, but it will be one day — on Perfect 25, the next island-to-be. But on the eve of rebirth, the Council is murdered and Paradise is killed.

In the aftermath, the “investigation freak” Lady Love Dies is summoned from exile to find the culprit. This is the crime to end all crimes.

What are the facts? What are the truths? Are they the same?

Return to Paradise Island in this updated and enhanced version of Paradise Killer, featuring new music and new mysterious beings, additional quests and rewards, extra Starlight skins, and more collectibles to find, plus performance improvements, a HUDless mode. A free update for all players, available March 16, 2022.

Featuring DX12 support, ray tracing (DX12 only), advanced upscaling (NVidia DLSS and AMD SR), and a host of other visual and performance updates, Paradise Island looks more stunning than ever! Also available in the March 16 update.

You are tasked with finding the killer and building an airtight case against them. Take your case to trial and argue your interpretation of the evidence. Only when someone is successfully convicted can the crime be considered solved and Paradise be saved.

The “truth” is that there are many possible killers, and many ways to build a case. Even if you make a convincing case for prosecution and get someone convicted, is the mystery really solved?

Paradise is an island set in an alternate future history filled with cryptic lore and even more mysteries. Examine bizarre relics to learn more about this world’s surreal history.

You choose who to accuse, and build a case to support conviction. Everyone on Paradise has a secret to hide and something to gain. Old friends become new suspects, forcing you to choose between the evidence, the greater good and your own beliefs. There are many possible murderers, but who you pick will define your own personal truth.

Let your personal computer and electronic assistant Starlight be your guide through another dance of an investigation. Collect evidence, record testimony and interpret the facts to form your own truth.

Solve hieroglyph puzzles on ancient nightmare computers to discover new areas of the island, find concealed evidence and reveal terrifying secrets.

An open world investigation masterpiece!

A game that combines Dangaronpa style trials with open world investigations. It also allows you to 'fail' by if you are not thorough with the investigation. The story is original Eldrith horror with a vapourwave style and the music is Perfect! If you like VN like dangaronpao or Ace attorney style games this one is a fresh air in the vn space.

So I have never seen an open world detective exploration game before. Then this came along and I have really enjoyed my time with it. The simplest explantation of what this game actually is is Ace Attorney x Outer Wilds but its really its own thing. You explore the island gathering evidence and when you feel you are ready you can start the trial. The game really gives you the freedom to approach the mystery however you want; it doesn't push you down any particular theories or paths so the conclusions you come to are really your own (but are they the truth?). The vaporwave aesthetic is great and the lore is thought out well. Highly recommend to anyone who likes dectective or exploration games. I hope the devs make a sequel because I want more.

A weird but fun game

I had a lot of fun playing this game. The story is very weird; demons, gods, blood rituals, slaves, and so on. But if you can overlook the weird stuff, it is an interesting dective story game. I pretty much did all things in this game and I clocked my first playthrough at 17 hours. The music is excelent!

One Of A Kind. Recommended.

"Paradise Killer" is a walking simulator broken up by bits of visual novel... or vice versa. Doesn't sound like much of a game. ... you ever see a bridge? Like, an AMAZING bridge? One that makes you say "Wow, really?" and question the cognitive boundaries we put between Engineering and Art? Or have a meal *so darn good* that you get aroused? Or see a sunset that is literally wordless poetry? Paradise Killer has a deep and interwoven d-r-i-v-e pulsing through it, from the soundtrack to the visuals to the background collectathons to the eliptical esoteric eternity-seeking questing of the character's "organization", that all coalesces into a mind capturing drumbeat which owns the space between your ears when you play. It is an experience, I suspect a one-of-a-kind sort, that demands player engagement. Does that make it a good game? To be a game, there needs to be interesting and impactful choices to be made. Are there? Well... there's one. But it's a big one! You can wrap up your investigation essentially any time after the first ten minutes and start pronouncing judgement concerning the one crime you are tasked with investigating. And at any given moment, the temptation to do so lurks, overshadowed by the urge to better understand the situation first. Brilliant design! You're done when you want to be! By the end you'll understand the weirdness, the plot(s) at play, and why the person(s) who are Guilty are far from the only ones Not Innocent. It's up to you to decide how complicit someone needs to be to be worthy of punishment, or if reasonable motives override terrible actions, or if the fate of a society should trump the "justice" for/of an individual. Should a terrible person be punished even if they didn't commit the crime you're looking into? Lots of very specific "How About THIS Person?" choices to make. Wonderful. (I broke my Hard No on DLCs for this game, the B Side soundtrack is so good. And those are the tracks that didn't make the cut!)

So when will we get more of the same ?

This was quite a blast for me. The core game of exploring this open world (which also has the good taste of not being too big for it to become tedious) was absolutely a delight, and really touches the best aspect of exploration. A hidden clue can be hidden anywhere, being curious is really rewarding as you uncover how deep the mystery goes and you always have a good reason to ask yourself "Is there something to discover over there ?". Also the game's presentation is really well done and pleasing to the eye, as the combination of sci-fi, vaporwave and flamboyant colors is making an almost perfect combination (as long as you're open to this kind of aesthetic, of course). Plus, not using a contemporary setting, like it's frequently the case in murder mystery, is a huge plus. It took me months to actually finish it, not because it was long, but because, when I realized I've pretty much found everything I needed to find out what happened, I actually didn't want to end this and was a bit saddened that I no longer had any reason to keep digging. So i postponed the moment when I would start the trials and end the game, until I really needed to make some place on my hard drive. I really, really wish that Kaizen Game Works or any other competent developer makes of this "open world clue search with no big arrows pointing to your next destination" game a new genre, because now I crave more of this kind of experience.
