Unresponsive platformer
Pandemonium is a good 2.5D platformer held back by it's unresponsive controls and weird camara angles that don't let you see what's going on in front of you before getting hit by an enemy, forcing you to walk forward slowly, which isn't fun. Other than those issues, the game works fine. No Crashes and no graphical glitches that I noticed. However, the music never loops after it ends. I have to alt tab or "esc" to get it working again every single time. Graphics are fine for the time, it has it's wacky and colorfull charm. Plenty of collectibles in each stage and different paths to take. Sound is good, but music isn't particularly memorable. A non-existent save system on a PC game is really weird, considering older games have save systems. I know it's a direct Psx port/conversion, but they could have at least added a save for each stage. Hell, even Sonic 3 had save files, and it's a 1994 game, for crying out loud. Pros: + Good visuals for the time + A lot of collectibles in each stage and different paths to take Mixed: +- Music glitch Cons: - Unresponsive controls for a precision platformer. - No Save System - Some bad camara angles that prevent you from reacting to enemies when they appear on your screen in time.

Fond memories justified!
This is simply a wonderful and superbly wrapped simple platformer! The premise of the game is a medieval/fantasy style 2d adventure using a clever pseudo 3d effect to enhance the visual gameplay. It is a solid game in its own right, with small touches of humour and more than a polite nod to Mario and even Ghosts and Goblins at times. The movement of the background is particularly impressive, as it layers and wraps in on itself as the level progresses, so that you often see where your chosen hero is headed well before they reach it. This gives a false sense of a third dimension when in fact, you are tied to a horizontal plane. The two characters are diverse enough to offer replayability on each level, and their different abilities and skills do make for quite different approaches-Fargus is slower but has range, while Nikki is lighter but prone to unseen hazards as a result of the faster gameplay. Overall, this a very cheerful, fun game - not too difficult by any stretch, but worthwhile. Thoroughly recommended! S.
