Set against the backdrop of a catastrophic thunderstorm raging over New York City, Overclocked explores an archetypical, yet actual condition of mankind: violence. This psychological thriller mixes frightening fictional thriller elements using innovative narrative structures. Overclocked charts the diffuse areas where memories and illusions; dreams and reality; perpetrators and victims; collide.
Army psychiatrist, David McNamara, is called to the Staten Island Forensic Hospital in New York City to consult on a case that requires his expertise in forensic psychiatry. Tasked with exploring the minds of five young men and women who were found scared, screaming, and without memory, he makes alarming discoveries as he begins to cautiously explore the psyches of his young patients. Throughout the game, players will switch between six different characters in this chilling interactive psycho thriller.

Let me think. This game has so interesting story seen from multiple views. We learn characters history in very innovative way... but... something went not right. First of all: proceeding story is so repetitive, you must play recording A from your phone to person B... and over... and over... Second thing, there is almost no logic puzzles in this game! Characters behave sometimes illogical: it is full of blood on the floor, I'll go for a broom and wipe it up! And the most important accusation: ending is so stupid!
This game has always fascinated me since I saw it on a shelf as a kid. Like the Still Life series this is such a grim, noir production: like wandering around inside of a thriller film.
There's times when the interaction is a bit spare and the dubbed voice acting can be shaky, but the atmosphere is thick and the story has twists and turns. You get the same dread feeling as a Silent Hill game at times with sheets of rain, troubled seas, distant thunder, cries of anguish.
Is it for everyone? No. It's less of a puzzle game and more of a series of inventory gates and conversation trees to navigate during an investigation. But there's so quality to earlier adventure games that feels so uncanny: the earlier animation with a kind of charm to it, the unbridled brutality that the game provides without censorship. It doesn't feel like a game you could make today.
The whole concept is really good, but as the story unfolds, it justs... crumbles. The main mechanic becomes redundant and the ending makes no sense. The game is enjoyable as a whole, but be prepared to be frustrated if you like questions to be answered
I Start by saying that the game is entertaining, also if the mechanics are repetitive like hell.
By a gameplay stand point there are few things that I really don't liked
MECHANICS
1.For the entire game you will find yourself going up and down in the patient rooms using your recorded conversation, watching and playing flashback.
I've read some people complaining about that because they have to hear the conversation again and again. Guss what? just press the escape button two times to skip dialogs and every long action in the game, David will make you know that the recording played was right saying "mmmhh".
But there isn't always a logical connection that make you think that you have to go in the room number # and play the record number # to trigger the patient. I've used a walkthrough at some point.
2.Things are triggered only when you do a specific action, this is a bit hard to explain.
But let's say that I have a torch, and I need to turn it on in a dark room that is enlightened, obviously I need to switch off the light in the room using the control panel. That is easy, but the game doesn't let you do that, indeed the NPC will tell you to "fuck around and don't touch the control panel". And guess why? I need to go in to the room when the light is still on, then turn on the torch light so that David will say something and only then I will be able to switch off the light using the control panel, without being stopped by the NPC, that for just a second has changed his mind with no reason at all.
Also sometimes impredictable events, impossible to knows, need to happen to continue the game.
STORY
I will say that there are so few characters in this game and they seems to me much more a bunch of robots than humans, but the story is entertaining until the final chapter, oh god the final chapter, it's just the end of the world with that nonsense honeyed ending. Just a pile of shit, IRREDEEMABLE. All the protagonist development is throwed in the toilet with the story.
The game start interesting and the investigative part very well done.
Voice acting is good.
Unfortunately that where the goods end.
The story becomes soon too very obvious, the investigation part become long winded and a matter of error and trial, without much thought in it.
I've found myself trying hard to progress, but fiddling with "audio file" for most part of the game, in the end, killed my interested.
Even with a walk-trough, I could not be bothered to proceed forward and uninstalled the game.
The ending has a kind of redeeming point, but is a drop in ocean of boredom.
