Outwars

I remember playing the demo for this game when i was a kid. The single player was not amazing but the demo had endless multiplayer for free on LAN. It was amazingly fun, many times i was playing this instead of Quake or Starcraft.

As in, Not For Me! A 1998 game with 1996 graphics with no in mission saves make it incredibly difficult. You will play missions over and over unless you use cheat codes. Reminds me of Terra Nova or Eradicator with a third person perspective and almost arcade style gameplay. Mix in confusing maze like levels and a lame ending and this just wasn't fun.

I won't say this is a great game. I have serious nostalgia blinders on and in no way should this review be considered objective. I have a soft spot for the unique art design. I played this game as a child with a laptop I got in a garage sale. I wish someone would make a patch for this game so the cutscenes would play properly.

I loved this game as a kid and wanted to try it again. I love the vibe of the game. The graphics are serviceable. You can get a better looking game by adding dgVoodoo2. Some people reported that they even got the videos working which are black for me (using a non-modded game). The gameplay is rather clunky and nothing you would write home about. Strafing is painful so you rely on trying to block line-of-sight and the jet pack to evade enemy fire.

I remember reading about this game in a magazine. I thought it was cool and when I finally got to play it- it was even BETTER! Flying the jetpack is very challenging and satisfying, it‘s a tough game. Overall it reminds me of MDK and Starship Troopers. Nowadays it‘s a little difficult the get into the game, but back then it was a 11/10..
