You've just landed on the endangered species list.

Swarms of exoskeletal aliens are ripping a merciless path of annihilation through the galaxy. Your outposts have fallen - your drop zone just became the front line. Strap a Jet Pack onto your battle armor and select from the lethal array of weaponry - you and your squad are all that stand between Earth and the savage horror of the relentless Skull hordes.

Get vertical or get dead.
Should you attack from the sky? What about escaping the cavernous depths? Shrewd use of your Jet Pack fuel keeps your options open.

Make no mistake, you're the prey.
Skulls hunt in packs. They swarm, they flank, and they learn from their mistakes.

Death knows no boundaries.
Blasting through a cave's close quarters takes a different strategy (and weaponry) than speeding through the vast vertical zones.

There is no path of least resistance.
Jet pack, hang glide, or hit the ground running - how you get through the Skulls is up to you.

Become an efficient killing machine.
Mission after mission - equip yourself wisely and you just might survive.

Nowhere to hide.
Skulls attack and ambush from every direction - including up.

Polish your devastation skills.
Wield a lethal arsenal that includes flamethrowers, mines, heat seeking swarm missiles, and frag grenades.

Utah's Starship Troopers

The late 90s had a host of pretty awesome action titles, and Outwars, coming form Utah based developer SingleTrac, was almost among them. What you get here is jetpacks and alien blasting action in large levels that range from push over easy to quite frustrating. You have a nice range of weapons, allies and level variety across the 6 hour or so campaign, but that won't stop you getting overwhelmed by spawning in enemies and bottomless pits. GOG's pricing of this is spot on for this, as it is a decent albeit rough gem. More details in the video review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSMx6zRyK0s&t=18s

Rough cut diamond

Gameplay is challenging but more or less fair when you get the hang of it. This is not a power fantasy type of game. You will be dodging enemy fire and praying as your last tick of jetpack fuel dwindles to 0 over an infinite chasm. Graphics ain't much to look at but it's from 98 so what do you expect? The devs did great work with the mix of 3d models and sprites. The fmv sequences and the voice acting is smothered in a wonderful layer of 90s cheese. Pick cool breeze as a teammate. You won't regret it. Overall it's extremely enjoyable and hopefully with enough people we can resurrect the once vibrant multiplayer scene. Docked one star for the final boss fight. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaame

I've looked for this for 22 years!

I fell in love with Outwars back when it was new, and dropped every other game I was playing at the time to focus on it. Fighting aliens while wearing Starship Troopers powered armor with limited flight and a great set of weapons- what's not to love? The mobility you have is just fantastic, and only gets better as your suit options improve. The story was also richer than most games of the era. Then I got to a level (either the last or second to last) that was a brilliant rework of a previous level (I'm not going to spoil it here), and my poor Voodoo graphics card just choked on it. As smooth as the game had been up until then, that level with its... creative geometry... was more than my system could render playably. That was 22 years ago, and after losing the install media I wasn't able to finish it even after building a beefier PC. But I never forgot about Outwars, and every couple years I'd check to see if GOG or one of the other services had it available. Heck, a couple months ago I spent an entire day going through boxes of CDs, in large part hoping to find my long lost copy of Outwars. And now it's here! Don't overlook this gem. There's a reason why I was still looking for this game after two decades. Time to suit up again. REMEMBER THE ULYSSES!

It's actually pretty good!

I bought it because it's cheap and fits in that second-half of the 1990's PC Gaming nostaliga zone. I've never played it before or even seen it for sale back in the 90's. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It controls well. You'll want to rebind movement to WASD and maybe a few other keys. It has nice smooth animation. You can choose between male and female main character. You're character has spoken dialog during missions, so male and female voice acting is the main difference. It has an epic action sci-fi movie soundtrack. It's heavily inspired by Starship Troopers. There are jet-packs! The actual action is very satisfying. The shooting as well as enemy deaths have that satisfactory feel as they explode into body parts as they die. The graphics and textures are what you would expect for late 90's. Nothing looks ugly within the context of the graphical standards of the time. As I fine tuned the control bindings, I replayed just the first mission over and over and it was fun every time. It just has that satisfactory arcade feel to shooting the enemies. If you're a fan of Earth Defense Force, Starship Troopers, late 90's low-poly and big pixel look, then give it a try. It runs at 640x480 but looks crisp to me on my 1080p monitor.

Great So Far

Let me start by saying I am only a few levels in. I decided to purchase this because I like older games. They tend to have a better story and are more fun in my opinion. The game runs excellent on windows 10. On another review someone mentioned remapping the controls and I took that advice. Remapping was a bit of a pain because you have to map it out on the main menu. You are starting the level over and over again until you have the controls set up the way you like. The gameplay is great. It runs very smooth and the graghics are great for the time. The voice acting is decent and has a Storm Troopers feel to the game. If you arent afraid of low graghics I would highly suggest this game.
