Description
OpenTTD is a business simulation game in which players earn money by transporting passengers and cargo via road, rail, water, and air. It is an open-source remake and expansion of the 1995 Chris Sawyer video game Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

Build

Connect industries and cities on procedurally-generated maps of up to 4096 x 4096 tiles by building a network of roads, railways, docks, and airports. Navigate dense city streets, cross oceans and rivers, and conquer high mountains in one of four climates.

Transport

Work alone or with friends to complete production chains and transport finished goods to towns. Assemble a fleet of hundreds of vehicles, transferring cargo as needed in an interconnected, multimodal network with optional cargo destinations.

Upgrade

Keep up with technological improvements through the years as towns grow; new modes of transport are invented; and industries appear, change production, or fail. Expand stations and build network capacity to keep up with demand and avoid delays.

Extend

Customize your OpenTTD experience via community-made mods downloaded through an in-game content service, including real-world vehicles, new industry sets, custom scenarios, and more.

Free and open-source

OpenTTD is free and open-source software, licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0. OpenTTD is under ongoing development. OpenTTD is not an abbreviation of anything.

My childhood

While the other guys were playing after-school sports, I was in our computer lab, working out how to get lumber from plantation to coal mine as quickly as possible. I absolutely loved this game, and many of the clones it inspired. To this day "Tycoon" games owe their principles to this game. I find it hard to fault this game, both in the context which it started and as a nostalgic and still-fun game.

Fun & Addicitive

For enjoyers of games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, but instead of managing a park with coasters you handle the transportation of materials for industry and people between towns and cities. Great customization options for the map generation to create endless unique and repeatable situations to overcome. Building a network of passenger busses and material delivering trucks expands to trains and planes as the time progresses. Assigning routes manually to min-max them exactly to your liking. Dealing with expansion and changing need for busses at stations, managing maintence with vehicles, or that your train systems with multiple one-way/two-way tracks are efficient and don't collide with each other. Fun classic management game, and while not a city builder per-say, offers some aspects that partially scratch that itch as well!

The Pure Nostalgia of 90's

I remember playing TTD then TTD Deluxe 20years ago, along with Settlers 2 it was the only games I really could spend many sleepless nights with. Although interface might seem unintuitive the muscle memory and it has permanently embedded in my head. Always loved creating complex rail systems and observe as my HQ evolve from a hut on a gravel to a Massive glass covered complex. Till this day OTTD provides me a good amount of brain training activities trying to figure out routings, waypoints and most efficient ways to build my rail system. A Game that stood test of time. The game that will inspire and charm many in the upcoming future. A true gem a 5/5 from me.
