Description
Noita is a magical action roguelite set in a world where every pixel is physically simulated. Fight, explore, melt, burn, freeze and evaporate your way through the procedurally generated world using spells you've created yourself. Explore a variety of environments ranging from coal mines to freezing wastelands while delving deeper in search for unknown mysteries.

  • Pixel-based physics: Every pixel in the world is simulated. Burn, explode or melt anything. Swim in the blood of your foes! Enter a simulated world that is more interactive than anything you've seen before.
  • Your own magic: Create new spells as you delve deeper into the caverns. Use magic to crush your enemies and manipulate the world around you.
  • Procedurally generated world: Explore a unique world every time you play. Discover new environments as you adventure deeper.

  • Action roguelite: Death is permanent and always a looming threat. When you die, don’t despair, use what you’ve learned to get further on your next adventure.

Noita is being developed by Nolla Games, a company set up by 3 indie developers, all of whom have worked on their own projects in the past.

The three gents in question are:

Petri Purho
Petri is best known as the creator of Crayon Physics Deluxe. In his youth he also made a lot tiny freeware games. He has also made a bunch of board games, but he hasn't told about it to anyone. So please keep it a secret.

Olli Harjola
Olli released his first commercial game The Swapper in 2013. Besides indie games, he also dabbles in music, live visuals and making programming languages.

Arvi Teikari
Arvi is also known as Hempuli. Over the years he has released a lot of tiny experimental games, so many in fact that he is unaware of all of them. One of the games he remembers making is Baba Is You.

Amazing and Challenging TRUE roguelike

Gameplay very satisfying as you beat your records and try to go deeper and deeper. Spells mechanics can be a bit tricky at first but once you understand them, you'll be able to do anything in game.

Brilliantly unique

After just a tad less than 47h in-game, I've finished it. It was stressful, hard, and at times my heart was skipping beats like me trying to impress the ladies on the dance floor. I ain't a great dancer... But did I have fun? I did. Every single run. The game is procedurally generated and particles have physics. That alone lets you approach every level, every run differently. Sometimes you'll get bad luck and won't find good wands, won't be able to pick up any good perks, or will just get ganged by enemies. Sometimes though you will get the best of luck, find rare perks, rare wands, strong spells... And quite often you'll still lose despite that. But in the end, you will come back to the game again and try another run where your chances for survival are slim. I don't think there's another game quite like this. Give it a go.

Loads of fun, but notable flaws

First to get the bad things out of the way: the more popular PC gaming platform gets updates first. We on GOG have to wait a while. Two, your PC probably can't run this. I have a quad-core Xeon with 16GB of RAM, and I know when the game just stops it's crashing to desktop. It happens. This is a huge pixel simulator and eventually, if the monsters don't get you, your PC will just give up and stop and the game will crash. Early access? Poor optimization? Who knows. Onto the good. This game is a BLAST. The design is random but the overall setup is fixed. Certain things are always going to be there, so there are maps. Don't look at them, just explore. Likewise, there are guides to the spells and perks and how they work together. Don't read them, learn on your own at your own pace, usually because you made a mistake and died. Remember that the master has failed more times than the quitter has tried, and this is a game of mastery. Most of the time, when I die, it was not my fault. I get mad, I get up, and I walk away, but I keep coming back because this is a wonderful game with a world worth exploring. If you think Noita is too hard, there are a handful of mods, including cheats, but they will only lessen the depth of your enjoyment with the game, though some add features you wish were in the game by default (I like playing as Megumin — no cheat there, it's just a skin). By default, the game is extremely difficult. But stick with it. Eventually, you will get a good wand and you'll think you'll have a chance. And you'll still die. But when you come back, you'll be armed with the knowledge you gained and that experience, and eventually, you'll get a little farther. Or you'll get a random seed that will let you get over the starting cave, and you'll head east and find some goodies... Random tip: water added to lava makes stone. Next time you see lava, see what happens when you pour some water on it.
