Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.

Now including...

Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon and VOYAGERS (6.0).

And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.

Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).

An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.

Embark on an epic voyage

At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

Find your own destiny

Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.

Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.

Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.

Share your journey

The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

Great until missions stop progressing.

I really love what the devs have put out, but sadly, I feel like my experience has largely been ruined because some missions would stop progressing (like the Expanding the Base mission in trying to hire an armourer). I've searched up and made use of third-party tools, which I enjoyed because I could get a quick fix in other areas, but it's somewhat annoying that I had to resort to this when I have been rather committed to the grind. If I wanted to progress through non-creative game modes more legitimately, I'd have to delete the offending save files and risk experiencing a progression halt at the same mission or in another mission. I would place this as the highest priority for game fixes if it's possible (I understand it can be very difficult to pinpoint and fix bugs), and additionally, to provide cross-platform and maybe dedicated server support. I deliberately bought the GOG version, since I wanted to pay more for games and other content I could definitely keep and use without an account, connection and/or subscription (unlike music and film these days, for instance); I genuinely thank Hello Games for doing this, and wish more single-player capable games could do this too (unlike Cities: Skylines and Ark: Survival Evolved). I dislike the sparse multiplayer experience on my DRM-free copy, but I will not ask for a refund. I could ask for more, like buildings and sets of buildings more complex than local trading posts and observatories, but I should bear in mind that other survival/exploration games either lack them or have them with compromises. For instance, Minecraft, while having villages, lacks interactive humanoid NPCs, while Ark lacks both interactive NPC prebuilt structures and humanoid NPCs. Otherwise and overall, I think the game is a decent experience. I've managed to clock a decent amount of hours and have found myself thinking quite a while about this even outside of play sessions.

A lot of content, but also RNG

Difficulty is customizable, you can turn off PVP to disable griefing, and flying and exploring is better than any comparable game I've seen. However, sometimes the game won't connect to "discovery" so you can't see other players' bases.

SPACE! It's really, really big!

I love this game. I bought it as a result of Internet Historian's video, and I don't regret it. The game is above and beyond what was originally promised. It's not for everyone. You might not enjoy it, but that's okay. There is no game in existence that EVERYONE will enjoy. And this game isn't perfect. There are plenty of things I don't like about it and would change/add. But this game is good. (Disclaimer: I've only played it on PlayStation, not the GOG version.)

I want to play but it's so disappointing

I came to No Man's Sky not too long ago, long after the developers corrected many of the faults that plagued the original game. When I started I had no idea what I was doing. I was running from cave to cave on a frozen planet trying to survive. I came over a hill and marveled at a herd of creatures roaming the valley. That was it, I was hooked. Since then I finished the main quests, spent three days getting that perfect S-class freighter, reached the highest level on most achievements, built several bases, and amassed more units than I know what to do with. There are still days when I suddenly remember that feeling I had when I went over that first hill and I just need to play it again. But so many times when I do play it, I end up getting really disappointed. And it's not because of arriving at a new planet having the same tired ecosystem and creatures. There are still some planets and creatures I come across that are new to me. It's the faults and limitations in the game that make me turn it off. The building components never fit the way you expect. And trying to place a staircase is next to impossible. The first time I about uninstalled the game was when I returned to my base and found it completely filled in by terrain. It's just not possible to build underground. Then the developers re-applied the ecosystems. All the creatures I discovered were extinct. The whole reason I built my bases at their locations was for the beauty of it. Gone. Fine, at least I can still wander around and explore and discover things, which I really enjoy. Now I look back in my discoveries and find other peoples names over things I discovered a year ago! THAT'S MY SYSTEM! How can someone discover the planet 4 months ago when I discovered it's creatures 14 months ago? I stared at my starship resting on the frozen tundra and wondered, what's the point? And once again, I shut the game off to play something else.

The game I dreamed of as a child

Just a phenomenal experience that continues to reach even greater heights. It's incredible that such a small studio is responsible for this game. No Man's Sky had a rough launch, although I still had some fun with it at the time. But since then the game has been entirely transformed with heaps of FREE updates. Great to see in a world of microtransactions and DLC. At its heart the game is about exploration, but there's a lot more in there. Seamless transitions from ground exploration, to space flight, to space stations are incredible. You can focus on documenting new worlds. Or finding and upgrading ships. Or building bases in planets, belle the sea or within your space freighter. You can act as a trader, making money on trade routes. Act as overseer for a settlement. Battle your way through as a pirate and smuggle illicit goods. All of this in a universe with billions of star systems. The time-limited expeditions are also a great way to experience the game, with specific objectives and a unique spin on things. PC performance is pretty good. The game is an unexpectedly small download, and it has a lot of decent graphical options (including things like DLSS and FSR). I've found it to run well on both a beefy GPU and the integrated graphics on a recent AMD laptop CPU. It looks good as well, but it's definitely a stylised game. The game may not be for you if what you value most is tight story and characterisation. While there are stories and characters, they mostly take a back seat to exploration, emergent gameplay and the huge sandbox. But I'd encourage anyone to give it a go.
