Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.
In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.
Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon and VOYAGERS (6.0).
And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.
Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).
An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.
At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.
Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.
Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.
Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.
The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

Avoid if sensitive to stress
There are frustrating bugs in this game. Today and yesterday I spent hours trying to hook up power generators to my base. Should be easy to do, but it turns out that my base is allergic to new power cables. The UI is fiddly enough that I thought I was doing something wrong, but then I discovered that I can't even reconnect my working solar panels. Generally the bugs are strange things that shouldn't be happening, but there is a plausibility to the behavior. Like the NPCs that have buggy dialogue. Maybe that NPC is that way, even normal people can act erratic sometimes? Anyone can have a bad morning. The world generation is a bit lacking. This game taught a lot of people about Kolmogorov complexity. It's like those Star Trek episodes where Kirk beams down to "the planet", and "the planet" is just one town and everyone living on the planet is from one or two factions. You get more variety just looking out your window! The planets are filled with smatterings of buildings and loot, all selected from a very small variety of options. Whenever you see something interesting it is quite obvious that it's interesting because someone sat down to create it, it wasn't generated. The bases are basically identical. Customization of the character is also quite limited. It promises that you can fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces. Well, I get a noticeable delay when I leave the atmosphere, so it's obvious that some trickery is going on at that moment. Not quite seamless. Whenever you enter or leave a space base there is an animated sequence that stands in for a loading screen. It's the same thing, just done in a neater way. And when you're on the planet it feels like your character forgot their glasses, because the viewing distance is tens of feet. I have to watch my stomach, so I can't play this game any more. But the main quest seems reasonable enough and it appears to have a sci-fi plot, so that might be worth pursuing once they've stopped adding new bugs.

unsure it still runs on win7
i have this on ste... and i first played it to the end several years ago,was an ok game if a bit boring imo, very repetitive at that time and had little in common with all its developers claims,i also remember having to use mods to make it playable . i do remember thinking the end was rubbish, got to centre of universe etc and there was nothing there lol,it just took me back to the beginning of the game so i uninstalled it and waved goodbye to it. im more putting this up as a warning to maybe check it does still run on win7,as i tried to reinstall the latest version, episode 4? and it wouldnt let me due to my w7 ultimate os/old amd cpu etc so i think theyve changed something major since i last played it.

Quite fun - Exploring only game though
I'm enjoying this game, it runs fine for me, around 90 FPS. I do have a beefy system though, i7 16GB RAM, GTX 980. The graphics isn't as good as I would have liked, it can look pretty blurry and the pop in is very distracting. But it still looks good once you accept that. The game is all about exploring in space or on foot, gathering resources to fuel up or upgrade your gear. I think a lot of people expected a game with a story and with large cities with characters to interact with with quests etc. I thought the developers made it pretty clear that it is not that type of game. There are characters to speak to and you can slowly learn their language. But the guts of the game is just exploring. With some combat in there. But there is very little interaction with the aliens, trading etc but no quests. If you are into exploring procedural landscapes and creatures like I am, then you will probably enjoy the game. If that is not your thing, I would avoid it.

Great potential, very poor performance
This is a tentative rating that I'll change if and when the game is patched. I had long feared that this game wouldn't live up to the hype. The game itself is fun (if slow paced), and I find myself yearning to go back and explore the planet I just left a little more. However, the game has a somewhat unfinished, unpolished feel. Most significantly, the game does not seem to be optimized for PC, and performance is quite bad. Wait until it's patched to see if it is fixed.
