Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.
In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.
Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon and VOYAGERS (6.0).
And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.
Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).
An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.
At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.
Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.
Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.
Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.
The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

Frustrating to play
NMS is absolutely beautiful. Navigating in space is awesome, going from planet to planet is too. That's the only part I enjoyed. The amound of grinding that is necessary to perform anything, is crazy to me. Even the gun you use to gather materials needs to be recharged. On a 2 hours session, I'll probably spend 1h30 grinding, and only 30mn maybe enjoying the game. I paid the full price, and left the game after 5 hours. I don't recommend it.

It's getting there.
The game now, compared to how it was when first released is huge. Hello Games (formerly Good Bye Games) really turned everything around. The graphics are great, VR is awesome. Multiplayer is real and you can share everything with up to 32 players in a group. Upload your base (that you've spent hours to create) for others to visit. The Anomaly is a hub for players to connect, and can be summoned from everywhere. Command capital ships, frigattes and send them on missions to earn cash. Embark on missions with others. The list goes on. Yes, there are still some bugs. The procedural generation sometimes fail, but considering the scale of the game, some errors are understandable. There are also some optimization issues, but they are constantly being patched. My only real gripe is the lack of an engaging storyline that you can progress in, with missions. The one that is in game now is just a filler. I got this on Steam sadly, had i known GoG had it on sale, i would have bought it here instead. Sorry GoG. Will check here first, next time ;)

Best Game redemption ever
I can't stress this enough how much content they keep putting out there after their "controversy". Hell if you can even call it that anymore. The comeback they made is monumental. Absolutely stunning

Still disappointing after 7 years
In 2023 it's a decent game and you can get hours of playtime, but prepare to grind your teeth A LOT. The UI is the biggest problem - it should be have been scrapped and redone long ago. It is FULL of "innovative" but bad ideas which lead to constant UX pain. It is way overloaded and should be brought down to basics. Like many procedurally generated games, it's vast but inch deep. I'd like to see a lot less effort in static 3D modelling of assets like space stations and anomalies and settlements and whatnot, and A LOT more work into actual procedural generation and modularity so that exploration doesn't feel like finding the same things and doing the same things over and over. Behind all that, the gameplay loop is decent and planet generation (flora+fauna) is pretty nice, but it is very hard for me to enjoy the game with so much constant annoyance. Mods help with the biggest problems but it is still far from a consistently good experience.
