NEO Scavenger is a game where you must survive in the wasteland long enough to figure out who you are. Each turn, you must decide where to go, how to scavenge for supplies, and how to deal with anything and anyone you encounter. And with each passing minute, the pit in your stomach grows, your dehydration worsens, your muscles tire, and your body temperature drops in the cold autumn air.
Choose your starting abilities carefully, because they and your wits are the only tools you have in the apocalypse!
Realistic survival simulation, with complex wounds and treatments, illnesses, hunger, thirst, warmth, and carrying capacity. Death is permanent!
A mix of sandbox and story play, with random content and character customization to make each replay different.
A unique post-apocalyptic setting in near-future Michigan, with elements of science fiction and supernatural horror.

NEO Scav' is a kick ass game.
You will die. Every time.
Imo, this is one of the purest survival games.
And it, to me, feels like a proper RL.

NEO Scav hates you more than DS ever could.
But...but...you learn, each time...
Neo Scavenger is immmersive. Non-linear. There are competing choices that make sense. Challenging but not discouraging. The crafting recipes are interesting. Combat requires thought. Poor decisions lead to poor results. You can fall into a role. Starting options make it replayable.
There are rare almost-random events that can cause death with no posibility of escape. It seems that, after the first hour or so of a new character, a careful newish player can run a character without dying at one of these events. So far, it's fine with me.
In 2019, on a 32-bit Ubuntu-based OS, it just works. No tinkering required. Neo Scavenger uses Adobe's Flash, which I've read may cause some older computers and operating systems to work pretty hard. Flash was a design mistake now acknowledged by the creator, but it doesn't matter if you have a modern desktop system.
New Scavenger will be a classic. Do you like turn based roguelikes? Then if you don't have this game in your gaming experience, you have missed something significant. Even if there are reviews here that make you doubt, you should try it!
This game is a little gem with great potential, hours of fun trying to survive and figuring out how to combine all the crap you found to just go one more round.
The interface is obscure and hard to get but it's probably part of the experience.
So I went in blind and bought the game. I finally got the hang of it. Its fun and exciting because once you mess up, your right back at the beginning. Ever little thing has its uses. Different skills drastically change game play. Bad traits are actually bad, and really make you consider not getting them for an extra perk. I've spend the last couple days playing it straight. Overall, very enjoyable, addicting, and worth the cash.
If you appreciate gameplay over graphics and want a game that has excellent background music besides. Then buy and play this game!
On a side note you can check out the games forum page, where I merged 3 of the best mods together so you don't have to figure out how to do it.
Enjoy!
