Few are chosen. Fewer succeed.
You stumble upon a battered old book and find yourself transported to the island of Myst. As you explore the surreal landscape, you quickly learn that something has gone wrong.
Terribly wrong.
An ancient betrayal must be unveiled. Secret books concealed on the island of Myst lead the way to incredible worlds born of a master storyteller’s imagination. Yet one by one, they’re being destroyed through the treachery of his sons.
But which one?
Only your wits and imagination will serve to untangle the web of lies and deceit that shrouds the worlds of Myst.
Myst: Masterpiece Edition, released in 2000, is as close to the original 1993 experience as you can get without a CD-ROM drive. Featuring the original point-and-click gameplay style, but upgraded with 24-bit color, a remastered score, and enhanced sound effects.
Begin your journey through one of the best-selling video games of all time with Myst: Masterpiece Edition.

Best $$$ thrown to the bin - EVAH!!
It's impossible making it work on windows7. Please vote all the reviews saying it (there are a lot) so they came up to the first page as "most valued"; that way you won't throw your money to the bin like me and like hundreds of gog users. Yeah, I know, my bad for not scrolling down. But what the hell, you should warn it, gog... By the way, couldn't play Myst on my days and it seems that i won't play it nowadays either, so it will be a masterpiece edition... on my imagination.

Poor Representation of a Fantastic Game
It's really a shame that the Myst Masterpiece Edition doesn't do a better job of leveraging ScummVM's capabilities. No options are exposed to allow you to easily adjust graphics options like windowed/fullscreen, filtering, or scaling. The end result is that the original 640x480 graphics are faithfully reproduced on whatever screen you've got - and probably don't look very good. It's still the same Myst that won accolades back in 1993. Still the same point & click gameplay. Still the same puzzles. Still the same haunting, lonely setting. Still the same curious lore. It's still an absolutely fantastic game... But this repackaging just does not do it justice.

What more is there to say?
When my father bought one the first available Windows 95 machines, he also got a printer. Two cd's came with it: a visual designer program, and Myst. Why a videogame would be included I have no idea, but it was the best thing ever at that time. I've spend weeks playing it, getting to know the story behind the island, the two sons of the author, and the mechanics. At that time, I was only used to Nintendo 8-bit games, and this was so far away from that, the experience was an amazing one. I re-visit the game once in a while, just to see what started my interest in adventure games. The low resolution of the videos, the puzzles, the music and sounds, they still trigger great feelings of bewonderment. If you've never played Myst before, I wouldn't recommend it out of the blue, but if you're looking for a good puzzle game and have an interest in how it all began, then by all means, try it out!

Seems to work okay on Windows 10
After a few hours of playing, I did not encounter any problem with this version of the game, which is great, because I had been waiting to be able to replay this classic for so long. I just noticed a couple of (tiny) problems though : the tree-elevator riddle seems to glitch a bit (the red hand on the boiler's display behaves strangely), and some of Atrus's lines's translations in the French version are missing ("Come Here", in the D'ni age). Maybe in future updates these issues will be solved ? I hope so. But overall, this port works just fine for me, I am happy to be able to enjoy this game again !
