Welcome to Mordheim: City of the Damned!
Play the first video game adaptation of Games Workshop's tabletop game Mordheim. Set in the Warhammer World's decimated Empire city, Mordheim: City of the Damned is a turn-based tactical game where you lead warbands into bloody and lethal skirmishes. The game blends RPG elements, fast-paced tactical combat and intricate unit customization in a time wrought by chaos and rivalry where only the strongest survive.
After a twin tailed comet crashed on Mordheim, the City of the Damned turned into a terrifying battlefield where rival warbands fight fiercely for the control of key neighborhoods, looking for glory and fortune by acquiring the very valuable Wyrdstone fragments.
Choose from iconic Mordheim warbands and lead your troops in epic battles where fame and glory await. Your strategy will definitely be your best ally! Visit the four corners of the City of the Damned to complete multiple missions in the solo campaign.
at 17hrs in....its fun but the controls feel there mint for controller not k&m. which makes it frustrating to search levels and brutally unfair to play at times
for the most part besides heroes all henchmen look the same not enough character creation
17hrs in and im just now get decent weapons that do 45+ damage while enemies been doing this since the start of the game characters always under level and you level to slowly
after winning a hard battle there is no gratifying rewards just 1/2 skill points there really skimpy the upgrades to drag out the length of the game.
if your not a lover of rts games like i am then wait for a sale bc. you may not like this one

The on-boarding experience for this game is horrible. I think the devs got lost in the sauce of recreating a tabletop experience in a turn-based video game format.
You have to sit and wait for enemy AI to take their turns, even when you can't see them. This can take up to a couple minutes during the first turns, where nothing is going on and you can't see anything or do anything.
I went into my first battle and lost my leader because I could not get my archer to fire back at an enemy archer for 2 turns, no matter what I tried. Nothing in the tutorials or the game UI was explaining to me why I could not shoot back.
I tried to find & pick up a warpstone that I could not mark on the map, I could not see physically no matter where I put the camera, and I tried scaling floors of a building to see if it was located higher out of sight but it was taking multiple turns just to cross 1 floor because it involved a jump roll that I kept failing. I couldn't find it.
There's way too many numbers and modifiers flying around, characters can barely take more than 3 hits, and - in contrast with all the numbers/variables flying around - there's little reason to do much else than bunch up and focus-fire attacks on enemies.
I'm a big fan of turn-based games, I still play Master of Orion 2, I've played most Fire Emblems, I greatly enjoy Larian Studios' games, I can't recommend this experience.
All GW-derived games live and die by silly RNG. However, games like Blood Bowl are goofy and fun. I can forgive losing an orc to big, dumb football ogre while I sprint down the field.
Mordheim is something else. There's no upside to missing 6 consecutive attacks where you have a 70%+ chance to hit and watching your squad die in the bleak, ugly pit that is Mordheim. If you love grinding out high risk missions to slowly improve your crew, you may enjoy this game. I think it embodies GW's worst tendencies without any of the flamboyant fun.
Highly disappointing game.
Very high learning curve. The tutorials start well, then descend into an avalanche of partial information that overwhelms you, with no obvious way to return to understand the mechanics or features. Trying to determine the mechanics *whilst playing* is incredibly frustrating, especially given the lack of an undo button.
The UI is awful - it has taken me hours to decipher even the most basic of interactions. It is not just non-intuitive, but actively misleading. There are hordes of symbols (several dozen) with no explanation or even a name, so understanding items, buffs, etc is nearly impossible. There are multiple buttons which simply don't do anything (but instead identify something missing) - one must navigate through different screens to be able access the feature. Examples include the formulas, reserves, and adding items.
There is no save. Given the incredibly high learning curve, and questionable mechanics, this alone almost voids the playability of the game.
Navigation is incredibly frustrating. There is no mini-map. There is no path-finding. Returning movement points can be random. The overhead map spins around, and is completely disorienting. One navigates by using the overhead map to decide if a 90 degree turn is left or right, then return tot he overhead map. Avoid changing levels at all costs. It is virtually impossible to determine where to navigate, where stairs are, etc. Remember, regaining strategy points can be quite random, so this can completely sink your plan!
The RNG is questionable. I routinely have insanely unlikely rolls (4+ misses in a row at 95% hit chance - and this has happened more than once).
The skills and spells seem pointless. There is simply not enough gold to buy them (and they aren't overly useful anyway).
There are random hiccups - not able to ambush, disengage, etc for no reason I can determine, and certainly no explanation.
Do not waste your money, or even worse, your time.
I can't say I'm objective on this one : I'm a Mordheim player. I spent more time assembling, converting, sculpting and painting models than I spent on all video games I played. This video game is too far from the original board game in many aspects. If we always take our time on the board, talking, having a beer, here it's just way too slow.
I appreciated the base camp gestion ( which exist for the board game ) and some other functionalities but limititations in warband creation and customisation, the quantity of character stats ( 3 times more than the board game), the combat system with lack of visibility, character turn based and not player turn based, reload each character bow/crossbow, etc
It wouldn't have been a 'Mordheim' game, I wouldn't have bought it . Except for the visuals I didn't find Mordheim in there.
If you like Mordheim, the board game, there is a good chance this video game isn't for you.
I have similiar problems with necromunda and battlefleet gothic video games by the way, for similar reasons.
