Description
This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles.

When a secretive government agency enlists him to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, Malachi is left with only questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him -- a dealer of high-end antiques -- to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come every time Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius: Empire Rising is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost.
  • Blends 2D and 3D graphics to provide sophisticated storytelling, atmosphere and puzzles.
  • Travel to Venice, Cairo, Zurich, and more, unraveling the mysteries of space and time.
  • Use your photographic memory and deductive powers to analyze locations and clues to fit historical patterns.
  • Unlock hero Malachi Rector’s destiny, and uncover his mysterious connection to ex-Special Forces soldier David Walker.

Nice experience

About to finish this game. It was quite a pleasant experience. No stress, good story, keeps you interested if you like crime stories with a twist. There are some unpolished graphical edges but I do not play such games to search for imperfections. Characters and their personalities are very nicely presented and are a part of puzzle solving which is a fresh idea. As an older gamer that does not have a lot of time to spend playing games I found Moebius just the right dose of drama. Would recommend it to any adventurer - young or old. Btw, linux support was a big plus for me as well.

Good enough, was hoping for more/better

Like many other games, it's neither particularly bad or exceptionally good. I must admit it was the combined power of Jane Jensen's name and my enjoyment of Phoenix's other game, Cognition, that brought me in with unsustainably high expectations. I came out of it disappointed - but not feeling ripped-off. The game is, for the most part, competently made and engaging, but rather on the easy side and fairly short, for me a little under 10 hours for a blind playthrough. Whether that's good value for money and challenge enough, I'll let you be the judge of that. I certainly liked the sci-fi premise of the story, but I'd rather not spoil it here. The final multi-stage "puzzle", a labyrinth, was too linear to be challenging or satisfying. On the technical side, I had to reload a save once or twice when a character got stuck after an animation. Additionally, back when the game came out, I couldn't get it to run on my old PC (crashes without an error message on WinXP I was desperately holding on to for the sake of oldies) and didn't find any solutions online. Even though the game lists WinXP as a supported system, it might not work on that OS. It's unlikely you even have a WinXP machine to play on anyway, but I still count those past problems against the game.

Great Value

Very nice graphics and interesting story + decent Linux support. I love all of Jane Jensen' stories and this one is no different.

Poor graphics but good music and story

The story, music and puzzles are what hold this game together - it's just a shame about the poor animations and low resolution graphics. If you can overlook the graphical flaws you've got a pretty good mystery adventure game on your hands. And with Jane Jensen at the helm, why wouldn't it be?

Extremely BAD Optimization!

IMHO, for any project in the future, Jensen should avoid Phoenix Online Studio like the plague! Ugh! My rigs are just about above the recommended requirements, but even on the lowest settings the game is horribly stutters, lags, dragging, the sounds are like hearing from under water.... Gah! It completely ruins any chance to enjoy the story--let alone play it properly. And ALL of their games are like this. It literally kills me to find that they also handle Gabriel Knight 1 remake. AAAARRRRGH!
