Once this city used to pulse with energy - dirty and dangerous - but alive and wonderful. Now it is something else.

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes.

In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted.

You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror’s Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.

Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run.

  • Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.
  • Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.
  • Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.
  • Free Yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running – what keeps you alive.

Edge of perfection

I love this game even if I feel like it hates me sometimes, but it's mostly just a combat environment they just not fun, but everything around it parcurrin on the building the beautiful atmospheric soundtrack and the clean White City with beautiful slashes of colors is so stunning and beautiful that I have in high regard even if it has some really low points. The story is a half completed mess. I have the feeling that the levels were completed and then they try to make a story around it. It's just that kind of feeling that the characters doesn't feel fully fledged out and many of them. Just go and happen. What the fun I have on the City tops jumping and wall running and doing all the tricks to get as fast through City as possible. I cannot tell you how fun it is. It's some of the highest moments in gaming for me the feeling of flow I get. Navigation puzzles are also a good fun of the game fronding and seeing how you can just slash off some few seconds and many of The Times where you're just wondering. How do I get up there. What the enemies are just not fun they slow down the pacing in most levels and the worst part is that sometimes they put a pipe that I can only get on if I defeat the enemies first and that's awful, and shooting feels really flat. This games feels so awesome and unique and art design takes the show.

The daddy of first-person parkour games

Mirror’s Edge’s influence is still felt to these days, and for a good reason: It was one of the first games to nail first person platforming, something not a lot of games did well in the 00s. The controls are indeed smartly designed and easy to get a hold of, and the movement palette of the heroine is well utilized. ME wants you to make quick decisions on the run, and constantly encourages you to improvise your way through levels. If the idea to try out a specific path crosses your mind, chances are it will work! There is a “runner vision” option meant to help you find your way more easily, but the level design is good enough for you to do away with it. ME is however not flawless, having a few awkward moments where the path to follow is unclear and/or the controls prove to be a bit lacking - the last few levels rely notably on trial and error. And while you’re typically encouraged to run past enemies rather than engage them, in the few instances where fighting is your best bet for survival the combat just seems kind of weak and annoying. These issues are encountered only on occasion, and for me at least the game works well enough the rest of the time that it’s not such a big deal. Apart from gameplay considerations, ME has a fantastic sense of aesthetics, with its eerily clean and colorful dystopian world. This type of art direction has not been seen much outside of this series, making it visually unique to this day – the quality of the textures and 3D models is also top-notch for its era. The story, while predictable, is decent and well-told, but end suddenly and teasing a sequel that has never been released. Frustrating. In the end, while Mirror’s Edge might be a bit unrefined by today’s standard, it’s still a lot of fun… and worth playing for its “historical” value alone, having since then inspired many games from Dying Light to Titanfall. Its cult status and short length make it an excellent pick if you want a good game to play over the course of a weekend.

Absolutely delivers

It takes a little bit of getting used to, but once you do reach that point, this has incredibly cool first person parkour. I've seen some express frustration that this is not purely set on rooftops, and I get being disappointed if that really was what you were expecting; I don't think it's quite realistic for that to be the entirety. And while I respect that some disagree I was personally quite happy with the other settings including inside various buildings and the subway which includes dodging trains(!). It's incredibly satisfying making a difficult jump and there's sufficient variety over the course of it. You'll wall-run, jump from very high up, take on enemies. I've played all the way through this about half a dozen times now and have never felt like you're stuck doing the exact same thing for too long. I love the freedom you're given when dealing with enemies. It is entirely feasible to engage in hand-to-hand combat with nearly every enemy that you encounter. You can also choose to disarm them, which then opens up the option to simply toss away the weapon, or to use it and shoot your opponents. I recommend that you try each of these options at least once, and determine what you prefer; I haven't encountered that many games where each of these is equally useful. Frequently you will clearly be encouraged to do one of these things. Certainly here some are easier than others, but that's as far as that goes. The graphics are pretty good and hold up decently. Given the intensity of a lot of the gameplay and the psychological effect of jumping off the tops of buildings, they made the decision to eliminate certain colors whilst highlighting others. This feels slightly awkward at first but I agree that it was necessary and as soon as you have adjusted to it, which should happen in 30-40 minutes, you find that it doesn't actually strain your eyes, though It might do so until then. The world this is set in is genuinely compelling; a fascist state.

Cult classic

Marvelous art style, soothing soundtracks, and flow of free running all add up to amazing meditative experience. And whenever I was not parkouring it was because I stopped to appreciate how beautifully scenery was done. There have been many first person parkour games since this game, but for me none could capture the magic of this game.
