the best m&m in the series

in my opinion, the best might and magic in the series. you start off on kind of a tutorial island with a unique atmosphere and is fun to explore, and the rest of the game keeps up to it. i don't know what the level designers do to this game, but there's really only a few other games that managed to create such unique nostalgic like atmosphere, right from the first time you play it, and exploring the world is therefore so much fun. m&m6 was fun indeed, m&m8 ok too, but this is the only single piece in the series made in this engine that despite the relatively low polygon count and not very quality 2d sprite renders manage to create a surprisingly personal open world with a good balanced gameplay that never leaves you hanging where you wouldn't know where to go next, or always provide something extra if you didn't want to progress with the main story line right away

Nothing compares 2 u, MM7

This is the 1st RPG I ever played and it about ruined all the rest for me. I haven't gotten hours and hours of replay enjoyment, more like months and months. Along the way I've used most of the mods, I especially like the current one that packages MM6-7-8 together into 1 game. If you've never played MM7 then I am srsly jealous of you, you're in for such a treat.

Wanna play again!

Oh, man, this game was so satisfying. Forget about the flaws and hardships, you can't imagine what my party's been through, and they stuck together. Yes, the mage was grumpy in the beginning, for dying that often, but after Level 15 or so, she was the party leader (the fighter didn't like it and she didn't care). The game just gives so much space for filling the gaps with your imagination and the stories and quests are fun.

Just a great game!

It's kinda hard to say what makes this game great. It just has everything explorers would love. I think. Interesting world >Chests everywhere with random loot - tier based - also what I think is possibly the best way of doing it. >Spells of all sorts - thinking back that this is 1999, you can fly, teleport, water walk, area of effect, bouncing spells, vision spells, meteor spells, charm, dispel, cure disease yada yada yada, yeah every bloody spell you can dream of. >A choice of good and evil, where evil is better for spellcasters and rest good. is what it is, you will wanna go all sides anyway. >Factions - yet even if not so much text and all you kinda get the idea, it's just magically well done. >Items are random and fun, always fun to see the loot, from start to finish about! >Classes, where you can pretty much choose your own difficult It's just a solid game, even if dated, I wish other games could "try" and copy this formulae and make it better. Like someone else mentioned, the power gap, the levels, you do feel you level up and when you expert or master something even more! It's amazing! If you could bear the graphics and controls enough to just get in to it, you will have a gem from 99 that is still a masterpiece here in 2023! Maybe the game is just that good, or the devs of latter are.. Just that bad :)

Great RPG, and great progression.

This is my favorite of M&M games. As M&M6 it is tied to Heroes Of Might and Magic series, happening just after HoMM3 - you will be instantly familiar with some races and characters if you played it. The story is better than M&M6 and there is a moment when it splits up resulting in two completely different second parts of the game, thus adding to replay value. The classes have much more meaning than in M&M6 as there are skill level limits depending on the class. The graphics is better than M&M6, for the first time using 3D accelerators. The world is not as vast as M&M6, but still huge. The game is also not as difficult as previous installments. There are even shortcuts: instead of fighting through very difficult dungeon closer to the end, if you have Archmage or Lich you can cast invisibility and just walk through it. This is the last M&M game that has strong SciFi elements, that become important closer to the end. If you played previous installments, such as WoX or M&M6 you'll know what I mean. While M&M8 improves on some of these points, it smaller, easier and not as replayable. Overall, in my opinion, this is the series best. PS It also works perfectly with WINE (and so Proton) under Linux.
