Might and Magic® 6-pack Limited Edition

In the same vein as the Ultima, Bards Tale, AD&D and Wizardry games, MM is hardcore rpg'ing at it's absolute best. This series combines all of the original 6 games, the best ones, and makes it easy to enjoy them all at once. Of course, it's best to begin with the first and work your way to the end, but you can begin any of them and jump right in. GOG has made it easier for those of us who must have newer OS requirements for a variety of reasons to enjoy the games of our youth. MM1 was the reason I pushed so hard for my parents to get my a C-64 when I was a kid. While I have MM! and MM2 on my (now retro) Commodore 64 and I play them often, it's nice to boot the newer computer up and not have to load the game from a 5.25 disk. I couldn't be happier with this set of games. Very true to the orginals.

Apart from the first 2, I played all these years ago. And these games still have the playability they had then. The first part suffers from a lack of proper spell casting system, and it lacks the type of map that was introduced in later installments, but these were limitations of the computers of those times that JVC actually attempted, with quite a lot of succces, into features. Addictive gameplay, even the first part if you can get past the VERY retro graphics and somewhat clunky controls.

I've been in love with this game since I was 13 years old. I've never beaten it (always seem to peter out around lvl 25), but I ALWAYS go back to it. This is amongst Morrowind and STALKER SoC for number of hours I've sunk into it, hundreds and hundreds. Its graphics are dated, but leave it with great charm. Its mechanics are simple but nuanced, leaving you with great flexibility and many many options. There are a couple of bugs I hope got fixed, and one I really hope didn't (i'm talking about you flying scroll in the wall of the New Sorpigal Inn!). Might and Magic VI is worth this price all by itself, I assure you. And from what I've heard about 4/5, you can't go wrong by buying this pack.

I must say, that even now, with all the wonderful games and graphics that have been released since this first came out this will always be on the top of my list. There is something about this game that makes you want to play for hours. The detail/storyline/graphics for the time, the way you can play turn by turn, the fact that there are a million quests just makes this game great fun. One of my favorite thing to do was to telaport around , fly in and drop fireballs on the enemy field. MM6 one of those games where you took notes!!!! You would make the world by creating a map, write down all the potion combinations (this one has black and white potions that you can mix that give permanent additions to your stats, but they also may kill you so you need to save before you start to mix), etc This is just one of those games that shouldn't be missed.

All of these games are pretty much perfect and I'd recommend them to anyone. The only problem that I have with this copy of them is in game one the game glitches to make it impossible to regain health and mana. It happens before I even leave Sorpigal so this saddens me greatly.
