A great game that's also infuriating

Such contrast, what a great game and story with fun varied combat, that also manages to be one of the most frustrating and annoying experiences I've had. Loved Talion's story and Celebrimbor's interactions, and the combat has a lot of fun things to toy with and keep fights fresh, but that's marred so badly by the incesant unskippable interruptions. The orc comments can be fun, but being cut out of control so often, for such long times, specially in some battles with many captains, wow, in this day and age I swear unskippable anything should be a crime. Another really annoying thing is the immunity and adaptation system. It's supposed to spice things up and make you use all your resources, but I found it just made the varied combat into more limited, boring puzles at times, and certain captains where just a terrible chore.

Beautiful but tedious

[Good] The tutorial don't feel forced The controls are well placed The cinematic is good The world is big and impressive Combat is enjoyable but... [Bad] Quick time events that let enemy commanders run away Quick time events that drop your health to critical Not able to use wraith mode from the highest vantage points Looks like a long long grind

I own both of the Mordor games on Steam.

I have to say that the stuff dropped from this is *undoubtedly* a fair trade for WB never patching Denuvo out of the Steam version. This is the same thing they did with Max Max. Their inability to actually patch broken server-dependent DRM out of their games on Steam means I will *never* buy from them again there. I'll wait, and get the game on GOG when it shows up. This one, sadly, is *not* worth buying again. If you have *not* got it on Steam, go ahead and get it here... On sale. This is vastly inferior to Shadow of Mordor, it's a tedious mess that can be fun but gets old fast and I honestly don't care if my Steam copy dies when WB Denuvo servers go down, or that I have issues playing it offline. It was worth playing, but not worth replaying, I have found going back to Shadow of Mordor to be an infinietly more rewarding use of my time than playing this again. Still, if you don't have this, the GOG version is the one to get, but it had better be at least 66% off to even bother. If you haven't played either game go look at Shadow of Mordor, it's a much better game, and worth preserving with a GOG copy even if you already own it on Steam.

Great for LotR fans and newbies alike

Have both Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor both on Xbox. Bought them both again on GoG to get all the DLC's. It's a solid open world action game with some RPG elements. The nemesis system does make it feel more personal. You will love to hate some Uruk's and some you might even feel sorry for as they are victims of their circumstances. Have to grind at times but that's the nature of open world games as you power up your character. All in all, a solid title and welcome addition to GoG.

I enjoyed the game but I prefer the 1st

I like the characters, the combat is fun but the evolution of the nemesis system was weird. In the first game we control orcs with fear and they simply obey. On this one, you can make your own army and the siege fights are a very nice addition to the system. They added more sophisticated behavior for the orcs, the influence of dominate effect seems weaker. Some orcs can even resist. “Dominate” feels more as a “recruit” than in the first game and while it does allow more room for the orcs AI and nemesis mechanics, I think it might have been better in a different game? This doesn’t spoil the fun, absolutely. The evolution of the system was something I enjoyed to play. My biggest problems with the game were 2: - orcs monologue - siege blocks story I’ve researched a lot to see if I could get rid of the orc monologues, I want to fight, not stop to hear what 2-3 captains have to say! Some people suggest to remove the audio files while others say that doesn’t work anymore. That said, I know some people really enjoyed the monologues and maybe that works for you. The sieges are fun but they take time. Level and gear play a role in this game and sieges can get really hard if you are not prepared. I’d be fine with that if I could do it in my own pace and I find the siege fun. Problem is that it ends up blocking the story and I’m force to do the siege even if I’d prefer to do something else. There are other activities around like challenges and such, but at the point I stopped playing, all side quests and main quest relied on me doing siege after siege. I’m pretty sure this is a personal preference as I don’t see many people mentioning this.
