Description
Every legend has a song. And yours is one of metal, vengeance, and destruction.
Part human, part demon, and bent on vengeance. Become The Unknown, and fight through the fiercest domains of Hell on an infernal ride to face the Red Judge herself. You have a score to settle.
Slay to the beat
Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm FPS, where your ability to shoot on the beat will enhance your gameplay experience. The more in sync you are with the rhythm, the more intense the music will become and the more destruction you will cause.
Demonic arsenal
Defeat the demon hordes with your skull-clad blade or range of murderous weaponry. Once your ultimate is ready, unleash havoc with the weapon ability of your choice.
Horde mode
Enter the Leviathan game mode, where you must defeat increasingly challenging waves of demons in hellish arenas. As you progress, make brutal decisions about what upgrades to choose, and forge yourself into a true headbanging machine of death.
Multi-award-winning original soundtrack
Every track has been created specifically for the game by composer duo Two Feathers, with vocals by metal icons such as Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), and many more!
Epic story
Play through an epic storyline, narrated by award-winning actor Troy Baker. Unlock special challenges and conquer the realms of Torment to become more powerful.
Fight through fire, ice, metal and madness
Although commonly known as Hell, The Infernal Planes is in reality a union of a thousand Hells, all of which are terrifying and diabolical in their own way. In order to dethrone The Red Judge, you must fight your way through the fiercest corners, from the icy world of Voke to the maddening world of Stygia.
From the Lead Designer of Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Metal: Hellsinger is created by an experienced FPS team at The Outsiders and is the passion project of David Goldfarb, Game Director on Payday 2 and Lead Designer on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

This is one of my favorite games ever, and I didn't seriously expect it to make any progress when I added it to the Dreamlist.
Game's great, made me remember why I play video games after a long period of being burnt out on them generally. Music is top-notch, Gameplay has surprisingly good flow for being so rigid about doing actions to the beat, and the story is solid too! My biggest complaint was with the lack of replayability, but even that was addressed with updates that are included in this version.
Hard to play if one suffers of compulsive head banging or signofhornsinitis*. And guess what - the truly diabolic thing is that Metal: Hellsinger causes both conditions.

Not so good time if you don't, because this game is 100% moving fast, shooting sharp, and following the beat of a positively shredding sound track.
*Note: It is possible to operate a mouse and/or keyboard with this nasty motor tic, but it is not easy.
PS. I would have bought this on GOG release, but it happened 3years and change too late. Damnit, Funcom...? Or at least I assume it was due to Funcom, but if it wasn't, damnit somebody/-thing else that caused this minor annoyance in my personal existence.
This game is licensed by FUNCOM and thus you do not own it. They can revoke your license at any time, be aware.
This brings the game down from 4 to 2 stars for me.
Otherwise this game is great, it nails what it sets out to do, matching the speed of the game to the BPM of the soundtrack, allowing you to choose between nearly slow-motion and light-speed. The OG soundtrack is high quality and woven neatly into the gameplay, but the tracks all sound the same to me and personally becomes too much after a short while, but discovering the DUSK OST saved everything. The game really slaps and if you are into rythm games and Doom shooters, give it a go.
If you enjoy rhythm-based FPS games, which I believe there are not many of, you will definitely have lots of fun in this game.
+ The gameplay is streamlined, fast, snappy and it is all connected to being on time when you execute.
+ The music score is impeccable (especially if you like a bit heavier music), with original songs recorded just for the game and in this critical area, the game delivers.
+ The game makes you feel the rush you'd normally get on games like Doom Eternal.
+ The story is kind of okay. Nothing unexpected really but you wouldn't be there for it anyway.
- I take away a star which I'd happily give back once it is confirmed this is not just a licence to play being sold here. I have not heard of any mishandlings on the publisher's part, but regardless of that, if a game is on GOG, ownership of it is something which is expected.
Overall, an amazing game that I had bought this summer and I was hoping to see it here before I made the purchase. I might as well buy it again if it is promised that we cannot be barred from playing it due to licensing reasons.
Anyway, give it a chance. I am fairly confident you'd enjoy it.
