Developed by Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory with an all-new action experience. The game seamlessly melds pure action and epic story-telling that surrounds Raiden – a child soldier transformed into a half-human, half-cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!
A huge success on both Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE comes to PC with all the famed moves and action running within a beautifully-realised HD environment.
PC version includes all three DLC missions: Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and VR Missions, in addition to all customized body upgrades for Raiden, including: White Armor, Inferno Armor, Commando Armor, Raiden’s MGS4 body, and the ever-popular Cyborg Ninja.

it's the same Port as Steam, no update whatsoever,
Recomend using Flawless Widescreen and MGROverride_1.1 patch to fix it's 1080p resolution limit.
Limitations aside, can confirm Achievements are working on second day after it's release on GOG and no glitches or crashes on my end so far.
The game as most of us informed gamers know it's amazing, from soundtrack, gameplay and even visuals to some degree, camera issues and short content aside it's still a great game, it's pure Platinum hack n slash of the likes we just don't see any more (aside from Bayonetta 3) from an era of kings like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry.
Mod Upfront: The game can be modded for 4k. MGROverride will change the meaning of 800x600 to be any resolution you patch it into. The downside of this is that some hud elements glitch and that you have to reset the resolution to 800x600 on start to re-apply it. Which is not perfect, but playable. There are a few other nice mods like to improve the camera or textures.
I played the game back when it came out and enjoyed it. Challenges can be trying at times, but that's what they are for.
It's a great game that can best be summarized as "designed for fun". The game follows the story in chapters. It has a lot of collectables and challenges in every chapter. However, you don't have to worry if you didn't score an S rank in a chapter or missed a collectable. You can just go back and replay it on the same save (Story -> Chapter). You are rewarded with a currency that you can exchange to improve your abilities, weapons and armor (-> Customize). That means you can just play the game, get better at it, improve your character and revisit missions for challenges.
The style of writing is intentionally cheesy and fun - set against the serious backdrop of war and cyber implants - just as you want your metal gear. Who doesn't love a German capitalistic mad scientist on his team eager to augment you.
I would have loved to see the game improved to support higher resolutions etc. out of the box. I very strongly doubt it will be patched in, but I am very happy to finally be able to replay it. Also, while I love the game, it's not perfect - esp. by today's standards. Criticism of it's camera (and even combat parry mechanic) is somewhat deserved. So historically, it's a 4. As-is it's a 3. Konami has long lost the status of caring about games. Given the IPs they own, hopefully one day they can revive their dead corpse and not just milk the back-catalog (esp. without improvements). But I take it.
Very happy about this drop. Please more (old/new) AA / AAA on GOG - I don't do steam :)
I was extremely excited when I saw this shadow dropped and got it. It runs ok, no better than the other PC versions. The max resolution is 1080p though. Even though it says that achievments are supported, in the GOG launcher the game doesn't have them, it's like they aren't supported after all. Hopefully this is fixed.
I got and played this game years ago in the mac app store for like 1€ (it was probably an error sale, still I was able to get it and play it).
Drm took it away from me (the mac port don't exist anymore) and from konami I got Metal Gear 5 on steam (a denuvo game that I had to play on a windows installation that I had to format to get rid of denuvo) and from apple I got a 10€ credit for itunes but not this game.
Now I can finally buy it drm-free... and 12€ is an ok price for me to pay for a game that I already know I enjoy and want to play again (I got it yesterday and it's fun like I remember it... every time my Raiden die the doctor screaming "RAIDEEN" cracks me up).
It's just pure fun, adrenaline and music that change based on the boss fight stage. I love it.
The cutscene are cheesy and really stupid but that's the beaty of this game.
Just get it and have some mindless fun
I remember a time when MGR was unable to be purchased due to DRM issues. I'm unsure if that was an issue only in certain regions, I was only a console player back then. But it's good to see this game here and DRM-free, hopefully Konami will add the rest of the series onto GOG!
Metal Gear Rising is almost nothing like the rest of the series in terms of gameplay, but the plot and characters fit into the universe fairly well (maybe turned up to 11 in some ways). The game has rock-solid gameplay (controller recommended), a phenomenal soundtrack, solid graphics (no native 1440p+ or >60 fps support unless GOG added them, but mods do exist), and a surprising amount of lore and worldbuilding via the in-game codec calls (over 6 hours of them!!!).
