Even fps games from this time, the shooting is just passable, the sounds of your gun are very good, but there seems to be some bug with my setup as I can't no audio from enemy gun fire which I was willing to deal with. However, the super linear gameplay and lots of cutscenes with clunky controls and jerking animations, the game is just meh at best to me. Have to say I do like basing it on events though.
This might very well be the only time I've regretted spending $3 on a game. I originally thought this game was Medal of Honor: Rising Sun which I have fond memories of when I played it on the PS2. This is obviously not Rising Sun and had I'd known that I wouldn't have bought it, but here we are. Anyway, lets start with the good. It has good graphics (for 2005), the voice acting is good enough, and it runs pretty well. Now for the bad. There aren't many bugs, but the ones that are there sure are noticeable. The enemy AI would just randomly break and stop working. I actually had one guy stop in front of me and sit down. Also, there is this bug where your FOV will randomly shrink until you aim again. Next, the story is a mess. The characters fall into the basic stereotypes such as: the gruff sergeant, the nerdy medic, the redneck who can shoot, and you, the normal everyday American. The developers for some reason decided to throw out the history books and retell iconic battles in their own way. Do you remember reading about how the Makin Island raid was pulled off by like 5 guys? Nope, me neither. So, the game has a generic (mostly made-up) story and some pretty annoying bugs, but the gameplay is good right? No, this game has somehow managed to make some of the most recognizable firearms in history boring. The sounds are generic, many of the guns share the same basic animations, and all of them feel under powered. Also, I really hope you like turret sections because this game is absolutely full of them. You can also issue orders to your squad, and the game reminds you every 30 seconds with a large icon telling you exactly what order you should be giving. Overall, the game is generic and bland at the best of times. Seriously, there are better MOH games that came before and after this game. Don't waste your time or money.
This isn't for me. It feels like the player's health has been swapped with the enemy's; shooting enemies doesn't seem to bother them - unless you get a headshot at point blank range, they all seem to need a double tap at least. Actually, the enemies are so hardy that they can be engulfed in the explosion from an oil barrel and not even stop shooting, let alone fall down. In the other direction, you can be insta-killed, often by soldiers that you can't actually see yet, and it takes a long time for you to finish dying... you're losing about half a minute every time, especially if the medic is trying to get to you but doesn't.
I don't think the squad element, an element this game seems very proud of, really works... There's a mechanic for giving basic orders, but your squad seems to do what they like most of the time. Another mechanic lets you pick of your wounded comrades and drop them to the medic, but they're all so useless that you'll find half a dozen of them calling out for you during firefights. They all have indicators above their heads to let you know that they're on your side, what they're up to, and whether they need help, but when they're running around the dark jungle like headless chickens the indicators obscure your view.
For me, despite the frustation, the worst part is still the cheese, and the lack of originality the game offers along with the fromage. The Pearl Harbour level is clearly highly inspired by Michael Bay's Pearl Harbour - the worst WW2 film. I say "inspired" but they've lifted beats almost verbatim. It's also got the obligatory turn-of-millenium-WW2-game Private Jackson character, even shamlessly having the line about killing hitler if they get him in range with his sniper rifle - give me a break, guys. I can see the cutscenes are trying to make me care about the characters in the squad, but they're all uncanny, near identical mannequins apart from the medic, and the attempts to make you feel sentimental about them are woeful.
Medal of Honour Pacific Assault is great game with a very good plot. Its theme is about WWII, battle between the US and the Japanese Empire. The graphic is fine to me, the sound effect is cool and the soundtrack is fantastic. I got this game for free in Origin and I really enjoy playing it. There are lots of challenges and they are not too challenging for me.
Medal of Honour Pacific Assault and Call of Duty 1 are awesome. Their sequels are sucked! What the heck!? The developers don't have imagination or creation, they made call of duty the same and the same. Why don't they try to make something different? They want money because those freaking teenagers love "modern-Call-of-Duty-style" games and f*cking buy them. Those teenagers didn't realise the similarity of the games? And they keep playing and playing and playing until they can only think of Call of Duty! When some body talk to them about first person shooter, they will walk about Call of Duty! Call of Duty is a gamer's brain-washer, it makes people think that the true first person shooter is Call of Duty. The true definition of first person shooter is Doom and Quake. Tose games are fast-paced and shmup!
I will accept people who play the classic Call of Duty or Medal of Honour, they are the unique variant of first persin shooter and original. Don't play the sequels and they are just copies of the original ones!
I hated this game. Community theater tier cut scenes. Clumsy game play. Weirdly sluggish graphics on a box that is generations evolved beyond the game release date.
As soon as I got to one of the earliest objectives and it was a "beat the clock" mission I knew I was in playing a dud. When you don't have any actual ideas for a game, just add a timer. Anything is exciting if you're under pressure to do it fast!
