Kurt Hectic in his snazzy suit with ribbon chute is back to save the universe. This time he is teamed with the genius Dr. Hawkins and the 6-legged gun-toting robotic dog, Max. Together they must out-sneak, out-blast and out-think their enemies as they attempt to reclaim the Earth from a vile alien menace.
All three characters - Kurt, Doctor Hawkins and Max are playable, each has his own levels, powers and items and a completely different gameplay focus. Kurt is about stealth and sniping, the Doctor has a few direct attacks but also has the ability to create items and effects out of simple household objects, while Max is a cigar smoking, quad gun toting demolition squad of a dog.

I really like this game, but it does not seem to work very well. the game plays fine until you save the game and quit, once you do that the game will not load anymore and must be reinstalled.
A classic from the 90s and honestly one of the more inventive. Granted it's not quite as good as the original MDK in many way but it's still good. Bit more cheesy and the diverse characters give it some flexibility but it's not quite as serious as the original.
Played half of the first level of this game about 20 years ago at my parents' friends house. Finally bought it and finished it.
You can see a dreadful harbinger of the post-whedonesque modern marvel-gearbox writing style which has plagued most forms of entertainment from 2010 on in it, but honestly it has enough flare to be charming about it.
The gameplay was a lot of fun and I didn't find playing as Doc as hard as some people in the reviews did because I have like 5 mouse buttons, so no worries. Rock-solid visual design for an old game, back when people were getting more polygons to work with but hadn't given their worlds over to indistinct greeble hell. Lots of neat shapes and good level layouts, although the Jim Dandy is a bit of a maze.
As someone with no nostalgia for anything EXCEPT for the first half of the first level, I can honestly say this game is pretty dang okay! I give it a very enthusiastic 3/5 stars or an extremely relaxed 4/5.
In theory, I'm sorta on board with changes in direction. Yeah, I would prefer to up the abstract and absurd from the original rather than scaling it down. But the devs clearly aimed for a more conventional story and progression structures, and significant amounts of goofiness were retained. And the idea of new playable characters and their personalities' tweaking is appealing. Visuals are solid, and soundtrack is godlike (though not always utilised in a best way).
However, there are just too many bad game design decisions. The new characters are the worst offenders here, with flat-out boring stretches (either with mundane busywork puzzles, or with uninspiring tanky shooting sections) that seem to last forever and are sometimes prone to sequence breaking, which will likely get the player stuck after some time and force to reload. On top of that, the original Kurt sections offer largely unchanged controls, but without the frenetic pacing they were suited for, making many challenges awkward to overcome, and dilluting the fun moments even further.
The game never quite sunks into the outright bad, imo. But it lost what made the original so good, and what it offers instead is often subpar.
