As vast alien mining cities suck the power and minerals from every major metropolis on Earth simultaneously, time is of the essence as millions of civilians are expiring by the second.
Using your stealth parachute and the now infamous "Zooming" head-mounted sniper weapon, your task is to slip in undetected from the sky, seek out and remove the alien leader by any means. Fully reactive “smart enemies” think, listen and communicate in a calculated assault on your life. Think fast and act faster against the most sophisticated artificial enemy intelligence of its time.
The main objective of the game is to basically shoot everything that moves and everything means every alien you will come across. The one and only way to stop the alien invasion is to kill'em all by any means necessary, such as the smallest nuclear bomb, surfboard-like jet or bomber plane. Your goal is simple - repulse the alien invasion and save the Earth... almost single handedly.

I loved MDK when it first came out and I was eager to play it again. Unfortunately, the game crawls (VERY frustrating) whenever more than one or two enemies are present. I couldn't even make it out of the practice room, due to over and understeerage and plane unresponsiveness.
I'd expect this in Crysis perhaps, with all features turned up, but not for a 10 plus year old game.
My computer is more than up to snuff - It's 2.4 GHZ, 2 GB RAM. running WindowsXP.
I have extremely positive memories of MDK2. I thought I would pick up the original, and after five or six frustrating starts, I'm annoyed enough to write a nitpicky review. Firstly, I was hit with some issues with this gog/pc version. The screen wouldn't stretch/fit to be truly fullscreen, so my game screen is smaller and with an annoying border, which changes colors randomly. Distracting. Also, the controls were annoying to map, but that's pretty par for the course I suppose. I was using a gamepad and got the controls pretty tight, although it is odd to not be able to move the camera around, as we're probably all used to by now from modern games. Often the camera sits almost on the ground.
You can save I guess? Now I'm seeing you can save by pressing F2 on some of these comments. In fact, I probably would have looked harder for a 'save' function, but everyone was saying 'you can't save' etc... Would have been good to know. I was waiting for a checkpoint that never came.
I got pretty darned far, 30 minutes or so into the level, and died a cheap death and had to start all over. That's usually forgivable, but I didn't even know what killed me. Sometimes guys with nukes just run up and completely end you. But I did the same thing FIVE times. I got to the same general area and died cheap deaths of various kinds.... like, I would have 80 health and then just DIE somehow....and then on "continue" the game would start me at the beginning, minus the intro sequence. What? In my opinion, the game just gets so tedious, especially the zoom/snipe mechanic. Granted, I played the first 30 minutes over and over, but.... I'm done. Wish I had bought something else.... just my opinion.
I remember MDK from being included on the CD-Version of a PC Gaming Magazine back in 2001. When I tried it for the very first time I was really impressed by the game and until today I count MDK as one of the best games forever who should get more attention.
What is MDK?
In MDK you play Kurt Hectic (great name for a character) who works for Dr. Hawkins. Hawkins has got a dog called bones and together they are trying to infiltrate the extraterrestrial Steamriders throughout the Earth.
The levels itself are pure art and differ so much from each other so you don't know what to expect when you enter a new area.
To make it short: Get it and expirience it!
Ah, a good 90's classic alien blasta! It has solid graphics, an alien otherwordly feel that blew me away! (Still does to this day!) And a gripping story involving an alien invasion and three heroes who are the last hope left to stop a devious resource taking plot that can destroy the world!
So if you are into blowing anything that looks extra-terrestrial up into gibs and bits. Then this is your cup of tea.
Pros:
1. This game gets 1 thing right: Fun!
2. The level and gameplay variety is amazing.
3. The voices and sounds are hilarious.
4. The pacing of action is also great.
Cons:
1. The tutorials are not great at all, and we have to learn the controls by trying and testing.
2. Also the frame rate drops even though performance test in Options menu said its fine. My mac has 16 GB RAM.
3. There's no saving progression, and we have to play level from start on dying, which can get pretty annoying repeating the same for 20-25 minutes depending on where you die
