Younger me wanted exactly this game to be built to update the original MOOII masterpiece. I am so happy.

it's a great 4x title
not flawless, but it does what it sets out to do mostly well. every now and then i feel the urge to play some MoO and when i do i alternate between MoO2 and this one. the worst thing about it imo is the horrendously low mousewheel scroll speed in menus. i have to move the mouesheel down 19 times to scroll through all my 30 colonies in the empire view. it also doesn't matter if you scroll fast or slow, it always scrolls the same distance. tried changing the mouswheel scroll setting in windows, but it isn't connected to that, so made no difference. god, i hate this so much. still, a good game though.

This made my day.
Whoever rebuit this must have been a fan of the OG. They have preserved the original feel, but have polished MANY of the interface issues.

Little innovation and fails to immerse
NuMoo has returned to its roots after MoO3 and does a decent job of bringing the franchise to a new generation of gamers. It's a solid recipe and I enjoyed my time with the game, but one playthrough was enough - and that's not really a great sign of a 4X. It feels tired, like the old man of space 4X that hasn't quite accepted the decline of his virility. The game is pretty and coasts on tried-and-tested 4X principles, but provides little innovation to the genre and fails to immerse the player in its universe. I've left a complete review on Old Man Mordaith (https://oldmanmordaith.com/2017/07/16/how-do-the-numoo/).
