Mars: War Logs

I own this game on steam. The story was ok and you get to skill your character, craft items, decent inventory, etc. It was a decent action RPG. My problem was that the combat was just flawed. There was no reason to do combo melee skills because the enemy can counter your combo in the middle of your animation. And you cannot counter back or cancel your combo. There was literally nothing you could do. Worse their counter combo does more damage and they can do it whenever they want. You end up not using them at all because they are not worth it. So if you like dodging an just hitting your enemies just once, then backing off. Then ok this is your game. Or you like just going ranged characters in an action RPG that focuses on melee then you will be fine. This is also the reason why I didn't even bother with the next game Technomancer. It seems they have not changed this flaw. This is a mediocre game all in all, there are better ones to spend your money on. I would replay Diablo games, Dishonered, Dark Souls, POE, Vampire: Bloodlines, etc. rather than spend time on this.

As a real fan of Spider's game, I'd suggest you skip this one which too empty, too clunky. Start Spider's games directly with Bound By Flame (my favorite), then The Technomancer (the best one).

I brought it as I have played this before on PS3 and it was on sale. I booted it once to see if it was playable and it was fine but couldn't get the controller input to work so backed out of it. Once I sorted the problem went back into the game the language had changed to Spainish and could fine a way to change it so got a refund.

Mars: War Logs is like one of those budget PC titles you would see covered in dust or buried behind twenty copies of FIFA at your local game store. Occasionally you would get curious, spend what little pocket money you had on it and regret it the second you hit play. The gameplay consists of combat gathering, crafting and selling items. The combat involves mashing keys until the enemy gets knocked out, or a cutscene triggers where a guard will break up the fight. Between fights you're expected to dig through piles of sand and rubble to find junk to either sell or craft items with. I made it halfway through the prison sequence (which I'm guessing was the tutorial area) before I about lost the will to live.
