Machinarium Collector's Edition

It has literally been ages since a I played an adventure game I loved this much. Since the end of the 90s most adventure games were mere shadows of the games I loved. This one tops many of those. It is not talky so there is no long protracted dialogues to read. The graphics are splendid and cute. The puzzles are logical and fun. There is an in game hint system that will help you if you need it. The only negative I had for the game was its brevity, but then it was independently produced, and most adventure games were rather short anyway, so thumbs way up on this one.

Brilliant art and music combined with creative puzzles make for a memorable experience. You might be bothered once or twice with pixel hunting, but it's a very minor complaint. The game is very short, but it's well worth the money for the magical hand drawn environments and music alone.

Beautiful game, great story, amazing world and atmosphere. If you are a fan of Lem's books you will appreciate this game even more. Although not based on any of his books, it might as well have been. Great game!

It is original, funny, poetic, beautiful, immersive and challenging at times. There are ways to get hints when you are stuck. Overall, it combine the best of pre-2000 adventure games had (story, personality) and post-2000 (ease of access, production value). One flaw, however: rather short, which is ok on the iPad, but not on Mac / PCs.

Excellent music and beautiful artwork make this simple and short story a must-play. Puzzles have just the right difficulty to keep it entertaining. Recommended!
