Luftrausers

After playing the game several times and advancing in levels I can only say the game is surely addictive but it is also very repetitive. The only change in gameplay you get when you advance in levels in order to get the few weapon, armor and body upgrades that are available in the game. The score for the shots is calculated randomly since every plane of the same category gives you different score or at least that is what I saw. The game is fun for a short play - not for a prolonged one. Worth for playing 5-10 minutes a day. Not much content in it. Very simple gameplay with few enemies and a lot of shells flying in the air. One good thing is that it supports the xbox 360 controller. For very little content the game gets 3 stars.

First hour of Luftrauser is rewardin achievement hunt with constant part unlocks and plenty of variety. Visual style, music and the atmosphere in general are pretty unique. However, after the basic part are unlocked (most likely in less than hour) there's still a last set of parts and (mostly useless) color themes to get but the achievements start to become frustratingly hard, leveling slow and the same gameplay with same enemies on the same open sea map starts to get old. The game could really use the same variety on maps and enemies that it offers on Lufrausers. As it is, it's really expensive for one hour of fun.

This game could have been a gem, a complete pick it up and play experience. Alas the only platform it seems to be cared for is on Steam. The GOG version and other console versions are broken in different ways. I own it everywhere and for a game that was released 3 years ago, it shows the lack of care and attention by the developers. The devs made a statement that the problems will be fixed over 2 years ago, never happened. They recently released another game on GOG called Nuclear Throne. I refuse to buy anything Vlambeer now. Stay away, unless you want an exercise in frustration.

It's fun, yes. It's meant to be straightforward and arcady. I get that. But there is almost zero explanation of how things work. A simple codex would have sufficed, Just written explanations. Worse yet, the HUD is not fully functional and very poorly designed. Wait for a sale and hopefully patches. This ain't worth $9
