Lorelai, by Harvester Games, is the conclusive part of R. Michalski's Devil Came Through Here adventure game trilogy, alongside The Cat Lady (2012) and Downfall (2016).
A brand new horror adventure with an immersive story and world in full HD. An engaging soundtrack by micAmic and guest artists, English voice acting and Xbox controller support.
Lorelai will take you on a whirlwind journey through an engrossing psychological thriller suitable for adults, soon! More information, screens and trailers forthcoming.
An awesomely written fever dream. A dark story with constant twists and turns, great art direction and voice acting and nice riddles to spice things up. Don't miss it!
I rarely review games. I haven't even finished the game yet and I had to write a review just because of the music. Usually when I'm playing a game I turn all music off, for some reason the silence feels more genuine to the atmosphere of the game, well unless it's a rhythm game, of course.
However, the music of this game caught my attention right away. So much so that it's worth buying the soundtrack, imo.
So far, the game is compelling. I will update this review once I finish it.
Not a great in the gameplay department, the puzzles are feels simple, usually something along "walk from left to right, interact with everything you can and when you find a lock, look for a key and vice versa". But that laso means you don't spend 5min scanning screen with mouse to see what you can intereact with and I never needed to look up a guide.
The story gives it solid three stars.
Is not a bad game, is story focused of course but I found it's story lackluster compare to the excellent "The Cat Lady". I recommend it only if you want to experience a dark depressed story, as it's puzzle are way too easy and straightforward.
It can give you "The Cat Lady" vibes and even there is a connection between the two games, if you liked "The Cat Lady" you will probably like this game too but expect from Lorelai to be inferior on everything, atmosphere, story, puzzles, length, don't expect to play a gem like "The Cat Lady" is.
There is also a reference to "The Cat Lady", an Easter Egg that made me laugh! No other game has done that!
Overall a good game but more like a "walking simulator" rather than a classic adventure because of how easy it is. It has some branches on how the story will unfold depending on your choices that I found clever and also very good soundtrack, give it a try if you like this kind of games and of course if you like the gem "The Cat Lady"...!
