Long after the passing of the Second Shadow, when dragons ruled the twilight sky and the stars were bright and numerous, came the Age of the Great Guilds.
Blacksmiths. Shepherds. Clerics. Each dedicated to the absolute control of secret knowledge.
Another such Guild was the Weavers. Over the centuries, their craft transcended the limits of physical cloth, until they wove the very fabric of reality itself. Now, a strange power has swept the Weavers into oblivion, leaving behind one Weaver boy to unravel the mystery. Help young Bobbin rescue his Guild...and you just might save the universe from an unspeakable catastrophe.

I've played this game when I was a kid and when I tried the GOG version I felt something was odd, although at first I didn't get what it was.
Then I saw a video comparison between VGA and EGA versions and I got the problem.
The talkie part is actually quite good: I like the scottish accent of the shepherds and all.
But the close-ups of the faces during dialogs are missing, the musics are missing... I mean, most of the nostalgia is gone.
What actually made me ring a bell was Bobbin's cry when he got caught by the tornado. Bedides being quite odd by itself, it's repeated twice when he got captured by he dragon. In fact, that entire cut scene has been butchered and really felt out of place.
I ended up unninstalling it and getting the EGA version by other means.
There was a time back in the 80s and 90s when these games were churned out to a ridiculous degree, and looking back on it, many point and clicks from the era seem mostly like cookie-cutter copies of one another.
This is not the case with LOOM.
Lucasarts were simply geniuses when it came to creating original game worlds, and matching it to unique and inventive puzzle gameplay. It is a very short game, but even now there is nothing quite like it. A masterpiece.
