#1 most annoying game I've ever played?
The main problem is the combat. It's extremely clunky and unforgiving. One mistake and you may have to start the scene from the beginning. In the most annoying one (actually the only really annoying one), you will have to run back from the checkpoint to the previous room, get a weapon, drag the heavy weapon up to where you respawned and then attempt the challenge again. I couldn't for my life understand why they would add a section like that in an atmospheric adventure/puzzle/horror game. It's so out of place. Even mechanically. Since the game is something inbetween 2 and 3D you will have to calculate angles and depth precisely for every attack, based on very limited visual input. One miss and you are dead and have to go back to that previous room, drag the heavy weapon again. If at least the weapon would spawn next to you, it'd be fine. But now, it just wastes your time and smashes the immersion factor to bits. Ah, and if you do complete the part and just run out of the room, there is a trap by the door that will kill you. I can say, with a 100% guarantee, that this section is the most poorly designed I've ever played. It's not even entirely clear if you have to use the weapon or not. Since it always spawned in the previous room, I thought that perhaps it was not to be used and that I should dodge the enemies. It took me perhaps 10 minutes to be able to pass through so it doesn't sound too bad. 10 minutes wasted is nothing. I don't care. The main problem for me is that by now I just feel disgusted by the game and it's creators. I can't believe they would design anything this bad and let it through play testing.
