Lifeless Planet Premier Edition

(I own on steam) The first 30 or so minutes are great, they had me wanting more of this game. Sadly the next 2 or so hours after, boiled down to a walking simulator. With boring recycled puzzles and platforming mixed in. I doubt the "story" takes up more then a few pages of text, which I'm sure is the reason for the 2+ hours of "busy" work they added. This is a $5 game max, not $20 it retails for.

(owned on steam) This game feels more as a souped up proof of concept than a finished game. A very intriguing start, but soon it drops to a boring run, run around a predefined path, then some jumps, again run, and so on. Sometimes you have to do some puzzle, mostly involving jumping and running. Jumping is tricky, because the camera angle changes unexpectedly, so you often end up jumping too short or too long or even blindly, because the camera jumped (yes, the camera also jumps around) so close to your character you see only its helmet or something like that. On top of that, you cannot save when you like, so you find yourself repeating the same tricky area many times, trying to overcome the silly camera. Really boring.

I liked the game quite a lot. However it is let down by a severely faulty save mechanism (as others report) that repeatedly loses the position. It is no fun at all doing the same thing over and over again because when the game is restarted you have lost an hour of effort. So eventually I gave up trying. 4 and a half stars but for this bug (and would keep the 4.5 for anyone who wants to spend a full day completing the game in a single pass)

Those that gave this game a low rating it's rightfully justified because they are expecting more. I knew when purchasing this game what to expect. For a game made by ONE guy it's very good. It uses the Unity Engine and the models are descent. The textures and world you explore are beautiful. If you're expecting a game like Halo / Destiny shoot em up action type you will be sorely disappointed. This game is all about story and exploration. It has an interesting storyline to keep you engage. The voice acting is better than alot of AAA titles I've experience. The puzzles aren't difficult so you won't feel stuck in an area. Credit should be given where due. Beautiful world to explore and I love space science fiction. Story gets interesting as you get further into the game. The music is also very beautiful. Love the music piece called Endure. Just give this game a change made by ONE guy but don't expect too much. I personally enjoyed it for what it is.

Lifeless Planet is a puzzle platformer with an interesting world and decent story. You can notice that the indie game is of high quality with good voice acting and fitting well-made soundtrack. The graphics holds up still today for what it is. The platforming feels good, sure sometimes the controls might feel a bit off but that's more an exception than a rule. The puzzles are on a good and balanced difficulty, nothing is too hard to find but it's not really simple either. Same goes for navigating around the various levels, while you can get lost it's not too hard to get back on track again. The story is interesting, with an alternative history take that in reality never changed the timeline in particular as it was a failure. But exploring the lifeless planet you land on, finding the various logs and trying to find a way to leave is truly an experience in this game. The flow is good, as you explore you ask the same questions as the main character - "What is this and what happened here?" I really recommend this game and I'm so excited for the upcoming game from the devs, Lifeless Moon. While it might not be a direct sequel, I'm pretty sure it will be as good if not better!
