The Lounge Lizard is back, baby!
I loved this game and hope we get more from the same guys sooner or later. Why did I like it so much? Because the game manages to capture the spirit of Leisure Suit Larry! It has that same humor and quirkiness that make the older games loved by so many people. It brings the 1987 Larry to our world of Internet. And it does it with a smile and with respect towards the legacy of games that come before it. The nods towards Sierra and Al Lowe are there and are quite clever. The puzzles are mostly logical, but they can still be a challenge, since you get quite a few items in your inventory. There is no hint system, but I don't mind, since hint systems often make games too easy. Still, keep in mind if you really get stuck, you'd have to search for an anwser online. What else? The characters are memorable and likeable, each with a memorable design and personality. You are going to interact with a lot of interesting people, a pair of alpacas and even a gargoyle, so you probably won't be disappointed. I found myself scrolling though the Timber app just to see who comes up next! And speaking of Timber, I have to say the art style in this game is great. I was worried about Larry's design at first, but the moment he opened his mouth, I forgot all my troubles. Sure he's not a gnome anymore, but he wasn't one in the first few games either. This guy is the real Larry for me. The sound is fantastic - music and voice are stellar. There are a couple of times where the subtitles don't match the voice lines though. It would be nice if this gets fixed in a patch or something, but it's not fatal in any case.
