Description

Mature content notice: Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry contains explicit language, strong sexual themes, partial nudity and is intended for mature audiences.

Hey ladies, I’m back in business! My new adventure, Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, takes me – whatever the route or twist of fate – from the end of the ’80s directly into the 21st century and wow, how the world has changed! While my view of the world and women from way back in the 1980s collides with modern reality harder than the breasts of a lusciously stacked blonde jogging along a beach, I’m all set to date my way across the modern world!

In a “point & click” adventure I’d call typical for the genre we mutually experience how I fall head-over-heels in love with Faith, the hot-to-trot assistant to the boss at Prune, a technology enterprise successful worldwide. Since even dating is done digitally nowadays, the first thing I have to do is to work on my score at Timber, the totally hip, can’t-get-anywhere-without-it dating app where I date women, satisfy their needs, and accordingly pick up points for my Timber profile. And whenever I get a chance in between, always briefly check out a few new bikini pix at Instacrap – the 21st century is gnarly smill!

  • Leisure Suit Larry is coming in the 21st century – and no, there’s no word missing here
  • Explore a lovingly designed, non-linear game world set in the modern world with over 30 handdrawn venues
  • Use “Timber”, the ingame app, along with an innovative dating mechanism to date women, consequently improve your score at Timber, and ultimately clear the way to get to Faith, the women of your dreams
  • Solve true-blue puzzles and interact with over 30 handdrawn characters

Larry is back

Taking a deeper (hihi) look on the Game: Larry is back! Well it's not Al Lowe Larry, but it's a new one and it's getting closer to the original series. There have been many changes to the graphics during the games. Some say it looks like flash, but that's not fully true. Yes, it's unique in the series but same for part 7. It is more Comic-Style but after letting it go, I really liked it. Yes, I didn't expect this kind of graphic style, but it was made good after all. The speakers are really good and the sound at all is great. I had expected more girls in the game, it was quit a bit short, but the girls were made nice and unique. The puzzles were okay. Some could have been a bit crazier. I liked the vision part close to the end. The sense of humor was very good at some parts but it was too little in others. Over all it made me smile, but, well, there could have been more self-ironic gags inside like in the other parts. There was no narrator, but that was best part in 7. So now we good the Pi-Phone instead of and it done well in some parts, but the Pi-Phone could have been more involved in others. It commented some actions, but there were many gags not told. The size of the game was okay, but I love to see some more places - but, and that's the biggest critic - less travel in between again and again. So after all it's a good revival of the series, but I would love to see more ironic comments in future parts and some more girls, too. It's a funny adventure coming close to the earlier ones and it's beating the "Reloaded" and of cause Magna Cum Laude and Box Office. I even liked it more than part 5, but there is still a big difference to the best adventures of this series, like part 7 or 3.

Really enjoyable inofficial sequel

Yes, it is not a true sequel and no, it is not made by Sierra and Al Lowe has nothing to do with it. So I was extremely sceptical when I bought this. I just finished the game recently and I was very surprised how much the game tried to stay true to the orginals while also recognizing that it will never be able to be a true successor. The devs are obviously true fans of the original and it shows. The game has so many references to the originals while at core it shows the player how time has changed. It also has so many fun details and references to the actual real world if you look carefully. There are a LOT of puzzles in the game - most of them are logical, some of them require thinking out of the box. The main problem gameplay wise is that quite early you will have several locations available and even more items in the inventory without even knowing what to do with them. Sometimes it is exhausting to figure out what to do next and there's a really good chance you will get stuck multiple times. This is the reason why I substract one star here since I enjoyed everything else in the game. I would not recommend this game if you are easily offended but nobody who ever played any of the Larry games should be easily offended. Al Lowe might not have been involved in this but I could imagine he would enjoy the game as well.

Made by fans, for fans

Clearly CrazyBunch consists of old school point-and-click fans. The amount of references to old games by Sierra and Lucasfilm/LucasArts is staggering. It's a great game and it keeps the feel of earlier Larry games, while updating it to the 21st century.

The LSL franchise lives again! Great fun

After the last two games by another company (and that forgettable Reloaded game) it's insane, impossible, but it's happened: someone has made a good LSL game again. It's funny as all get out, lewd and bawdy but never really "x-rated" like the AO version of Magna Cum Laude or what have you. It's got good silly juvenile humor, but it's also not afraid to let Larry be a likeable character, or to let him grow and learn. The voice acting's great, the music is amazing! And the art style is cute, albeit with no cutscenes of any note (just pictures) so it's a bit low-tech of a game, but that doesn't matter to adventure games as much. It's also NOT short. Really, I can't say enough good things about this. It'd be a good adventure game even for someone who had entirely given up on anyone ever making a good LSL game again.

Gets slippery over time - hrhrhr

To make it short: The more grounded and satirical approach of a fish out of water Larry works out for me. It is a bit less dirty, than for instance "Love for Sail", also the small game has less clickable stuff in the world on which Larry comments. But once the game takes up the pace - which could be a bit earlier, I think - theres quite a bit sexy fun to watch and quite some modern clichés presented. The game's difficulty varies, sometimes I really had to think, sometimes guess, sometimes I knew the solutions right away. Maybe it is because Im in my early thirties, a nerd who got the references, and that is why it clicks with me, but I totally enjoyed laying my fingers on that little slippery thing. I hope the young small german studio makes a buck and go down on more larry.
