The Definitive LEGO Star Wars Game

I am huge Star Wars fan. I played the first two Lego Star Wars games : Prequel trilogy and original trilogy. The complete saga is a must have for every Star Wars fan. It gaves you the vibes of Star Wars and makes you feel like a kid anytime you play it. Nostalgia just kicked in I write this review after I played The Skywalker Saga lego game. It was fun and the mechanics are more superior than The Complete Saga's but... I still prefer The Complete Saga The Skywalker Saga is cool, can't deny it but the episodes are VERY VERY RUSHED. It lacks a lot of the important moments from the movies, most of the parts that you play in Complete Saga, in Skywalker saga it's a cutscene which is something fast forward. You do one thing or two and the level is ready. The free roaming is cool, it is huuuuge, you can go wherever you want and do some extra stuff but apart from that...didn't impress me. It doesn't make me feel as The Complete Saga does. The Complete Saga captures the important things from the first 6 movies and rebuilds it in it's own unique lego style and it leaves it's mark on you every time you play it. The Complete Saga is the definitive lego star wars game for me. I

Puts a dumb smile on my face

As its name suggest, Lego Star Wars: TCS retells the original Star Wars Saga through a childlike action game, featuring platforming and Lego minifigures. The game, short on narration and devoid of voice acting, unfortunately neglects some important scenes from the movies (Anakin's mother is not mentioned), yet creates entire levels out of some of their minor sequences. However, it does a stellar job of recreating the look of their sets, characters and props. The atmosphere is also spot-on. The minifigures and ships featured are based off Lego sets that existed at the time: if you owned some of them, it's great to see them faithfully recreated in 3D and take control of them! Lego Star Wars is divided in linear levels full of easily-defeated enemies and simple puzzles. It is by no mean a hard game: there is no actual way to get a game over, being killed only means you'll lose a few coins and respawn at the exact spot where you died - implying that even if you really suck, finishing a level is only a question of time. It can however be a bit frustrating at times, due to clunky controls and camera, and enemies that respawn endlessly. It is especially true of the vehicular sections, mostly bland and annoying. Yet, finishing each level is only a small part of the game: most of the playtime actually consists in collecting stuff. Lego Star Wars: TCS is choke-full of secrets and playmodes, allowing you to unlock new challenges, characters, and even built-in cheats. The amount of content on offer is quite staggering, with about 160 playable characters (some of which are useless, but ok), 40 levels to play through, and 50 hours of gameplay to finish it at a 100%! While I did not play it as a child, even as an adult, there is a great joy to take the role of minifigure versions of your favorite characters to take them on silly adventures throughout the galaxy. If you can enjoy the simple fun of it, Lego Star Wars: TCS is guaranteed to provide lots of amusement for all ages!

Okay-ish to finish, excruciating to 100%

I love older licensed LEGO titles. They are a fun spin on a franchise, fueled by charming LEGO figurines and environments, slapstick pantomime humour and great level/puzzle design. The Complete Saga is by no means a bad game. Some of the levels are downright iconic (Mos Espa Pod Race) and just playing thru the game is fun enough. However, these high points are outweighted by frankly terrible game design of some levels and an almost desperate attempts of prolonging the game's length if you wish to 100% it. While most missions are fun, some just feel frustrating and even exhausting to play through. Notably, ones that just recycle its parts, with the only variable being "harder" - like making you fight 3 waves of enemies (Jedi Battle, Hoth Battle, Speeder Showdown) or solving the same puzzle over and over (Bounty Hunter Pursuit, Ruin of Jedi, Rebel Attack, Falcon Flight) - are the biggest offender. And finally, my biggest gripe with this game - how arduous it is to 100% it. The Complete Saga has all the usual collectibles of a LEGO game - stud meter, 10 minikits and a red brick on every level. Each of these when found will reward you with a gold brick. However, this game adds 4 new ways to further your progress: - Challenge mode (per level), which scatters 10 blue minikits on every level and gives you 20 mins to find them all, - Character and Minikit bonuses (per story), which make you collect 1 million studs in 5 minutes, - Superstory (per story), which makes you replay each level in a story in one sitting with a 1h and >100,000 studs limit. Challenge mode forces the level design to find space for 20, not 10 minikits, meaning: - in Free Play you will find a lot of puzzles that, when solved, culminate in nothing, - the hiding places of both types of minikits can be bizarre and feel very forced. Character & Minikit bonuses and Superstory feel VERY dull to play. Overall, the game is quite fun to play (especially with a friend), but unbelievably boring to 100%.

Brick by brick a master-piece.

Star Wars TCS is as intuitive as it is sophisticated with detail. The lego games are known to be accessible, fun, and adequate adaptations of their licenses. However, what sets this particular title apart from its contemporaries or subsequent titles is the Star Wars mythology. As Traveler's Tales engine and design elements cater to the world, characters and gameplay elements with stupendous simplicity. It's authentic, dynamic, and adorned with intimacy. It fulfills many quotas that any enthusiast should absolutely experience, and 100%.

Great Game, "Okayish" Port

Let me just get this out of they way, I love this game. It's one of the few licensed games that actually adapts the story properly, unlockable characters means you have near infinite replayability, and you get 2 games in one (although the first half is altered). However, this port isn't the best. I use a controller to play this, but looking at the keyboard mapping makes me cringe. The port is also slightly buggy. Nothing game breaking, but I have accidentally sequence breaked the game multiple times. 7/10 get it on sale.
