Legends of Eisenwald is an adventure game with tactical battles, RPG and strategy elements. Take the lead of a small feudal army and try to defend your right to survive in this ruthless medieval world.
The mysterious lands of old Germany are waiting for you - it's a land where the superstitions of the time have come to life. This isn’t a fantasy game. There are no elves or dragons here. There are only people - and their passions, sins and fears that often take a tangible form. Which path will you choose? Live according to your conscience? Or live by power and might? Or will you live by justice? And what is your justice, really?
A unique and dynamic combat system - each move is also an attack
The ability to individually equip *each* fighter in your army
An intriguing non-linear story
A distinctive game world without common fantasy cliches
Over 50 hours of gameplay within the game. A main campaign consisting of eight chapters plus two additional scenarios.
An accompanying Scenario Editor with the full set of developer tools

Short and simple: This game is nothing but boring.
The combat system is wooden and unimaginative. You only have one option: Attack, Attack, Attack! There is no tactic, or strategic element to it.
The Battlefielt is always a plane field with no alternations at all.
mrkgnao is accurate about uncomfortable slurs against Jews and Catholics, but I just finished the Cursed Castle and found nothing annoying in that scenario. A nice 6-8 hour play. I also made a film set of it, see YouTube user NexySaloon.
The game is not that bad, but it is not that good either. I have not, and will not finish it. The combat is annoying because you cannot move your troops where you want them. Only infantry can move. Archers get a penalty to damage past a certain distance, but the game does not allow archers to move so they cannot get closer to do more damage.
It is claimed to be a non-fantasy game. Really? Do the developers live in a place where vampires, werewolves, ghouls and ghosts actually exist? Do they live where people can cast magical spells? They must because all of this is in the game. ( Not that it bothers me, but if you are going to claim, "This isn't a fantasy game.".........
Worst of all is the fact that almost every character you encounter is an ahole. The ones that seem as if they might be decent probably are not. You just do not know them well enough to see it. This includes your own character. You can either be an ahole or just not play the game. I have chosen to not play the game after playing about 70% of the game. What Eisenwald really needs is a plague that kills every "Noble" and most of the peasants also.
Sorry, but I just cannot play a game composed of nothing but despicable characters.
No freedom of movement in combat, stiff animations, poor writing and game options that revert right after hitting apply. I like a low-magic setting but in this it's commonplace with very mundane spell effects. Graphically there's much to be desired for a 2015 game and the UI has trouble being scaled to modern resolutions.
I can appreciate a low budget game but this one tried to be too many things and succeeded at none.
