Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart mated with modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exile to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to the captives, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations of days long past. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom, the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back an oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration, and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords would be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode, which disables the luxury of the automap! Are you ready for some classic dungeon-crawling first person perspective party-based RPG action? Are you ready to venture forth and unravel the mysteries of Mount Grimrock?
Use the Dungeon Editor to build entirely new adventures and challenges for other players to solve!
Explore a vast network of ancient tunnels, discover secrets, and find a way to survive in the perilous dungeons of Mount Grimrock.
Cast spells with runes, craft potions with herbs, and fight murderous monsters with a wide variety of weapons.
Create a party of four characters and customize them with different races, classes, skills, and traits.
Pure-blooded dungeon crawling game with grid-based movement and thousands of squares, riddled with hidden switches, pressure plates, sliding walls, floating crystals, forgotten altars, trapdoors, and more.

This game managed a incredible feat, it's an very old-school & hardcore kind of game, with fantastics graphics and a modern gameplay that manages to please both old fans of Dungeon Master games and newcomers alike. It's not insanely hard, it's not stupid easy, it's just right.
I own a TON of games. Old ones, new ones. Out of all the games I've played thought my life there only a few games that I remember playing like a crack fiend. Dungeon Master for my Amiga 500. Wandering around the halls, just thinking what you will see around the corner.. you know it's there cause you can hear it, or searching every corner for that special bad-ass weapon, or just plain stuck on a lvl you can't figure out just to smack yourself in the head cause you found secret room that you never noticed before.
This game is awesome for those that love to wander around, think out the puzzles that will lead you to that next level or special item, or searching every wall for some switch you might have missed. This game (at least for me) you think about it when you log off because you can't figure it out. I love that!
I give it a 4 out of 5 because the story was good but ending it like it did was flat, by no means do I say this game is bad. The other was the end was easy, not like the end of DM, where it took me 3 months till I got it.
Thank you for bringing an old friend, he was sure missed!
This is what I'd imagine a child of Stonekeep, Wizardry 7, and Eye of the Beholder would look like. With updated graphics of course.
It's a great game. Grimrock has a claustrophobic feel to the corridors, torches that slowly burn down and go out, monsters that sneak up on you from side passages, a hunger meter that needs attending, and the constant worry that you've missed a tiny button on the wall which would open a door to a piece of possibly lifesaving gear.
It's well worth the price. Buy it. And get ready ...
how i've waited for a remake of dm & eob to come for about 20 years ! i i am speechless ! endless thanks to dev team.
i aspiringly wait for 2nd 3rd 4th ...nth.. of this sublime game whatever it may cost !
I'm enjoying this game very much. It has been a long time sense I made my own dungon maps. With these great graphics and dungon crawl feeling This was worth every penny. So get some graph paper and have fun. There is a gaming graph that you can print that comes with the game. Take it slow and easy and stay alive.
