400 years have passed since the vampire Kain damned the world in the original Blood Omen, choosing to rule the world in damnation rather than die for its salvation. Now Kain, who once controlled the land of Nosgoth with his vampire armies, finds his brethren slain and his dark powers stripped by a mysterious figure. To reclaim his rule and exact his vengeance, Kain must dispatch armies of zealot soldiers and overcome legions of demons in order to uncover the ominous plot that threatens the land he seeks to conquer.
Blood Omen 2, the second instalment in the Legacy of Kain Series, is a 3rd person 3D action/combat game in which you assume the role of the vampire Kain. A compelling story takes you through huge, lushly detailed 3D environments and challenges your skills in combat, puzzle solving, stealth and exploration. With each success, you’ll gain new dark gifts that will grant Kain the ability to access treacherous new areas to explore and the power to face stronger, more aggressive enemies. As you develop a stronger, more skilled vampire, you’ll be rewarded with dozens of dazzling in-game cinematic sequences that unfold the continuing epic of Nosgoth, and Kain’s attempts to ultimately rule over it.
Move through crowds unseen cloaked in stealth, travel stories above the peasant herds on which you feed leaping from rooftop to rooftop, and use mind-control on hapless fools to help you overcome vampire-proof inventions.
Unleash your wrath in a lushly detailed, blood-chilling gothic environment that is not only gorgeous to the eye, but also alive with the soon to be dead.
Beautifully choreographed combat with surgical precision as you engage armies of demons and humans alike.
For people having problem's with the game not running, or crashing you need to go to dgvoodoov2, and download version 2.53 go into MS file, then drag it to your blood omen 2 directory. also this is key when you start the game alt+tab set affinity in -task manager -details -bo2 check cpu0 all others unchecked you must do this everytime you start the game.
If there ever was a game that would have been made four times better by being made four times SHORTER, it would be this one.
Blood Omen 2 just DRAGGED ON a lot. There’s tons of combat and tons of just walking around. The puzzles most of the time were not even puzzles, they just required you to mindlessly flip switches. Go to a door. Flip a switch. Follow a cable. Flip a switch. Go through a door. Flip a switch. And so on.
The biggest draw of the game remains probably Kain himself – his voiceacting is still top-notch and a pleasure to listen to. That being said, the WRITING itself seemed weaker than in the previous entries. Kain’s dialogue was less elaborate, less flowery and colorful.
The problem I have with Blood Omen 2, apart from it DRAGGING ON soooo much, is that I don’t really know why it EVEN EXISTS in the first place and what it brings to the series.
That’s mostly because it’s made very clear by some characters being alive and by certain other inconsistencies that Blood Omen 2 takes place in an alternate timeline to BO1, SR1 and SR2. So it almost feels like a spinoff and whatever happens in the game feels like it has little relation and little importance to whatever happens and was established in the previous games.
Even if we took BO2 as setup for a certain race of antagonists, it ultimately reveals surprisingly little about them and what it does reveal is not particularly fascinating anyway, as far as otherwordly races of supposedly great power go.
I guess even with all of the flaws I could have enjoyed Blood Omen 2 to a degree – if, as I said, it was four times shorter. But as is, it made me very very tired by the time I finished it.
If you would be interested in seeing me go through the game for the first time (or maybe me playing the previous games), you can do so on my youtube channel here:

Sadly this game is only one that I can't finish no matter I choose configuration alway freeze, this is f****ng exception to rest SR series that can work stable in HD resolution on my computer.
The fact that this game remains the worse in the Legacy of Kain series is a testament to the games themselves. Although it pales in comparison to Soul Reaver and the original Blood Omen, it is still a fun, challenging game. Though the story in this game is debatable on whether or not it can be considered completely canon, it's still interesting enough to keep you engaged throughout most of it. The block puzzles can feel a bit monotonous at times and the combat is a wee bit clunky, but the atmosphere is very powerful and one of the main reasons why I keep coming back to this one in the series- it captured a unique steampunky gothic atmosphere which I can only relate to in the Theif series.
Gog just needs to get the original game (why haven't they released Blood Omen 1 yet!?!?) and then the collection of one of the best stories told in a game will be complete!
So I see a lot of people getting stuck at the red text in the intro, there's a free fix here https://www.gamepressure.com/download.asp?ID=75897. For me, it worked instantly, just pop that into install folder and change resolution in game and you should be laughing.
Anyway, I'm not sure how much it's worth it since the game itself seems rather lackluster. Combat is stiff, there's some of the LoK atmosphere. Not my favorite in the series by a big margin.
