Wow
I wasn't too sure what to expect with this. What I got was the best parts of Knights of the Realm, Civ, Medieval Total war and espionage the reminded me of the Guild 2. Odd connections I know, but if you liked Knights of the Realm 2 back in the 90s, you'll love this!

Incredibly Frustrating
71 hours of gameplay so far. You make a little progress and the game almost predictably throws another hurdle at you. For example, kill off your King right after you take a province, or spawn rebel after rebel in provinces with a positive value, or have a country declare war on you even though they were kin to you. It seemingly never ends. My advise would be to save often and reload. The reload at least allows a new random seed so that maybe your King doesn't die for a while longer, or the rebels don't spawn as often, or your allies remain on your side, or a bleeping spy doesn't assassinate your General just before you make the final assault on an enemy nation. I'm still playing because I do like a challenge but this is not the game to play after a bad at the office.

CK3 Lite with more fun
Having enjoyed the original and wanting to play it again, I was pleasantly surprised to find this on sale. The game has much faster pace than similar Paradox games. Unlike them, it also has Total War like battles, so that mountainous terrain can work two ways now if you outmanouver the opponent. The trade and economy are also less complex with fewer modifiers, which makes it more accessible for new players. Especially, because once you buy it you don't need to spend another 100$/€/£ on DLCs to get the full game. Overall, a bit simpler than CK or EU games, and a lot cheaper, yet more gamey and fun too. Though, probably too basic for hardcore players and maths undergrads.

A fun sandbox romp
This game is quite good, oh my I wish that it was great! It is strickly and big sandbox romp. If it were a smaller scale, with tighter mechanics, it would likely be epic. The combat could be elimated entirely, there could be a historical senario that reflects proper logistics and such. But! It's a vast sandbox adventure, nothing more nothing less. Very fun, and I am glad I dropped some time in it, but don't see the need to go too deep into this system.
