Pretty good and still worth playing after all
I'd never played this game with its original release. However, I was enticed by a streamer playing Re-Reckoning and have been enjoying it. That being said, it clearly has some graphical and camera issues that I've observed.
When talking to NPCs, occasionally the camera will be placed over their head, put your character in a weird place to converse with them or at an angle that obscures the NPC.
The graphics to me are good, I know some think they're not enough of an upgrade from the original game. Having not played the original, I'd say they're pretty good.
The movement is pretty choppy and jarring. I'm seeing poor framerates, which for a game of this graphical caliber shouldn't be the case.
Overall, I've been enjoying the other aspects. The story is interesting, the crafting is fun. The combat is entertaining. It's a good game to pick up and play for a bit.
This is my first time playing KofA: RR. i've heard of this game during the ps3 era but never gotten around to playing it so i decided to give it a try wit this remastered.
First off, I'm going into this game with all the current updates as of 7/2022.
I have a pretty beefy computer but i dont think this game requires one to run well.
at 1440p 100 fps cap, No stutter, no framerate issues as of my 13+hrs of playing so far.
Gameplay:
This game is like any other mmorpg with massive skills and crafting abilities and huge overworld to explore. in my 13hrs of playing so far, I've explored maybe 20% of the continent so far, cratfed some epic gems, crafted some staves(as I'm a spell caster (sage so far)). Travelling is done via moving by foot around the world( if that is what u want), or u can choose fast traveling once you visit a town/dungeon/special location, you can then fast travel to it at any time by using the map and just click on it, this saves alot of time, since the map is huge...
The combat flows very smoothly from dodging to spell castings. I'm sure melee combat will have the same smoothness to it. The gameplay is very controller friendly(that is what I'm using). all the mappings of spells and items etc are very well though out. No point in time where I struggle to find my spells to cast or items to use.
1 small grip about gameplay is there is no jumping feature in thsi game - you can only jump at a designated location that has a an arrow marking that allows you to jump or fall.
Graphics:
Knowing i ever played the original KoA:R, to me Im basing my opinion on the graphics based on this version. Since it is based off the same game engine with minor graphic tweaks here and there, it does feel like a late mid yr 2k game, but that isn't a bad thing. The graphic serves its purpose and present the world well - towns/people/dungeons are very detail and smooth. There is a minor pop in here and there, mostly foliage etc.
Overal, 5/5
I really like the game, but sadly, the support for ultrawide resolution is (as of now) broken. Image is stretched horizontaly and vertical view is cut off so you don't see everything you are supposed to see. I have reported this to developers and if it doesn't get fixed, I will have to ask for a refund (should be simple enough fix, just calculate correct viewport).
