Game:

You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!

Story:

Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart. One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.

In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.

Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.
  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.

It's good - buggy - combat unique

KCD is it's own experience, the combat system is something new and interesting and definitely worth experiencing; though not perfect. I hope Warhorse stick with it and evolve it into something greater. Bugs are the games main problem, there are alot of them and they strike at random, i suggest having a game save mod installed as the vanilla saving system just does not work with bugs that can force you to load previous saves. The main quest is great, the side quests are passable but side activites are grinding. I almost feel that a realism inspired fantasy setting would have allowed the game more options for side quests (you know like the ES's dark brotherhood and theives guild stories), KCD lacks these meaningful experiences away from the main story line. All that said it's totally worth playing.

Challenging breath of fresh air

Ever wish your average RPG was a little more challenging? Tired of quest markers that point directly to the objective? Then look no further. In an RPG world where every quest goal is displayed on the HUD and games hold your hand through every task, KC: Deliverance is different. If you have patience and like that sort of thing, play it. You will enjoy it.

Still a Buggy Mess in 2020

The Game was released over two years ago and still you can run into game breaking bugs. Just now i started a new hardcore run, got to the first training with Bernard and proceeded to the archery range to duel Hans Capon. Well, he stays there idle, never shooting a single arrow. I can not back out of it. In cutscenes you can often see the inside of the armor becaus there is no full body under it. Holes in the meshes so to speak unacceptable after two years. Warhorse Studios are a good example, why i never preorder or kickstart a game and avoid to pay full prize. It doesn't matter if they are a small studio. If you charge like a big boy, at release the game was tagged with 60 bucks, mind you. You have to do way better than Warhorse Studios did and have done til today. Two years, and those kind of bugs, are still a thing. Unbelievable. The only ones who praise this buggy mess to heaven are blind fanboys or backers who have to justify their wasted money on amateurish developers. Kingdom come is not even worth the 30 bucks they charge now. Wait for a heavy sale, otherwise avoid like a plague.

This is perfect medieval RPG.

I love this game! It makes me smile and fills me with joy. Really that night drinking with the priest was awesome :) Quests and characters are great, even weeding the garden is fun, because you learn through your actions. I love the feeling when riding the horse over the landscapes and it doesn't get boring at all. Most of the people are a little put off because of the combat system. Yes, it is a little complicated and it's different - I think this is the main issue. But not for me, I still learn how to master sword and axe and shield, but when I started training I was grinning from joy - it is a refreshing approach, quite similar to a real thing :) Graphics are good, maybe a little unoptimised, but I don't complain. I bought the game recently on sale and with all patches, I haven't encountered serious bug...yes there are some collision problems, but otherwise nothing game-breaking or CTD.

Immersive Middle Ages

Kingdom Come Deliverance delivers a highly emersive role play experience. Its strenghts are the intricate story, the belevable world and the freedom to approach (almost) every challange in many different ways. It also does some things very different: The focus is on actually playing a role so although your are the hero of your own story you cannot escape your place in the world entirely as some things are, and remain, out of your control. The many activities and gameplay mechanics are mostly realized in game. For example, alchemy actually requires you to prepare ingredients and brew them together which makes these processes seem so much more real than in other games. I do recommend this game wholeheartedly! PS: For any fans of the old gothic games. Writing this I just realized much of what was done well back there was done well in Kingdom come. Just saying ;-)
