KENSHIT
Sit around the fire young ones, so I can better speak of me tales of yore. Tales of dreams and the promise of adventure. I hope you may learn from mine mistakes. When I saw a video showing this postapocalypsia setting had an invigorating Asian aesthetic, I was in. Installed it and took time setting preferences. Lowered the presence of dangerous denizens. Chose visual enhancements to better see the world around me. I spent long selecting the person to be. There were many options: A boy and his dog, a traveling merchant, a lonesome samurai. Many more unclear possibilities to explore. Elected a group of mildly unsuccessful adventurers. Was told my selection was "RPG-oriented" and that it was an "easy to difficult" choice. Was never explained what each difficulty was dependent of. I wanted only 1 companion while I learnt the mechanics, but the game didn't reveal how to do that, so I created all 5. Took me 1 hr to do the deed. The game auto-saved in the middle, idea that I liked. My party was safe. With nothing else to select I clicked start, filled with adventuring moxie. I was dumped somewhere, along 4 companions and at least 5 or 6 little windows. The knot in my stomach knew those were the "tutorial". Soon, they'd become at least 10. I opened the 1st and learned how to use camera and mouse. Below were worrying windows. One said that I was already hungry. I had to check it, but one must learn how to walk before one could feed. Half-way through the 2nd, my party ran to engage a group of robots to conduct grossly uneven combat. Sticks vs enemy giant swords. Obscured by many opened tutorial windows, I watched mesmerized. How to defend? How to run? WHERE to run to? Which window knows? Seconds later the peaceful scene of us slaughtered was all that was left. The only witnesses, 10 or 12 little tutorial windows. The game auto-saved for the 2nd time. Glean what you must from my toils my children. Go forth onto a well-lived fruitful life, or into this game. Your choice.
