Kane and Lynch: Dead Men is the new action shooter franchise by Io-Interactive, creators of the multi-million selling Hitman series. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men follows the violent and chaotic journey of two men - a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath - and their brutal attitude towards right and wrong. This volatile partnership combined with innovative technologies allow for an unparalleled gaming experience.
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men immerses players in an emotionally intense crime drama with unflinching action. Io-Interactive's proprietary technology delivers fluid high definition graphics and lighting; highly destructible environments; massive crowd AI; single, co-op, and squad-based combat; a cinematic interface; and non-stop dialog between Kane and Lynch.
Tense and unpredictable experience - This is the violent and chaotic journey of two men: a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath. Each hates the other but must work together to save themselves and possibly the ones they love. Play Kane in single-player mode and either character in two-player co-op mode.
Violence erupts in meticulously created 'safe' worlds - Realistic and responsive environments and crowds react when events get of out control. Crowded nightclubs and calm bank offices become scenes of sudden terror. Manipulate the environments and crowds strategically to complete objectives.
Wide variety of intense 3rd person game play - Rappel from buildings; fire on the run or from moving vehicles; launch surprise attacks, lay down cover fire, and shoot blind from around corners; and hurl smoke, tear, and incendiary grenades.
Fast and intuitive combat - Lead a crew of criminal mercenaries to increase your chance of surviving and reaching your goals. You can also fight alone as your crew AI will automatically draw fire, throw grenades, lay down cover, and engage in close combat with their own signature moves.
Two-player co-operative game play - Team up and play the full story with a friend as either Kane or Lynch. On the big jobs, split the command of your crew. At any point in the game you can choose to play the next, or previous, levels in co-op.
Ugly story, guilty character, really liked it.
There was a microstutter but i was able to fix it by going to device manager and disabling HID compliant device and HID compliant consumer control device. You can re-enable them after you have finished playing.
Hopefully that helps if you run into that issue. Other than that no issues and was able to complete the game.
This game is bad in some many ways.
The game is a 3rd person shooter very linear and that's okay, the problem is how bad the gunplay is. Shooting a gun, which is the only thing you got to do in the game, feel horrible. The bullets go where ever they want except where they suppose to. The few occasions in which they land where you are aiming it feels like you are shooting feathers instead of bullets, because of the little damage they do.
The AI of your teammates is horrible too. You can give them orders but most of the time they just ignore them and end up right in front of the enemies just to get killed. And when they don't they just stay there without killing or shooting a single enemies (There were some occasions in which they didn't shoot enemies that were right in front of them)
The story is also a mess. You are introduced to a lot of charactes that are related to you in some way but you don't know what is your realtion with them. Making all the interactions feel like this game might be a sequel for other game you didn't play. But no, it is not.
These were not only one of those few game I wasn't able to finish because of how bad it was, but also one that made me ask for a refund.
I've heard of the Kane and Lynch series before, but never followed it closely. The plot in particular was supposed to be interesting...
Now I bought part 1 during the sale and what can I say: it was the worst game I've had to play in a long time. It is short, gameplay is not fun at all (especially solo) and the storytelling is aweful.
The premise of the story is somewhat interesting. Kane, a mercenary in prison awaiting execution, is suddenly freed by his old comrades. They force him to get the loot from their last job together or they will kill his family. Lynch is assigned to watch over him.
Unfortunately, this is as far as the "interesting concept" goes. Kane is a cold-blooded murderer who will walk over dead bodies to save his family. In the process, you have to kill lots of innocent people (e.g., policemen, security guards) who have the misfortune to cross his path. Reflection, character development or at least an explanation as to why he became such a person? Not a chance. His psychotic “buddy” Lynch is no better. He even murders unarmed hostages. There is no recognizable moral compass in the story.
All the characters are completely unsympathetic and it is difficult to feel anything other than disgust for them. Even then, there could have been an interesting story, but instead you're just chasing after one McGuffin after another. There's hardly any backstory, all the characters are clichéd decals and the cutscenes are never well directed. Moreover, scraps of sentences drenched in self-pity and sad music when Kane is about to die are no good for a character study.
The gameplay is also a disappointment. In this 3rd person shooting gallery, you blast your way through hordes of enemies in relatively narrow, tubular and scripted levels. Their AI is rarely very clever. Danger usually arises from the sheer flood of enemies, enemies that are easy to overlook and the miserable cover mechanics.
Summary: Not recommended (not even on sale)!
Spoilers included.
TLDR: This game is for you, if you want to experience intense Tarantino-like action in dark setting of criminal underworld, where only personal matters are worth caring, through the eyes of selfish, ruthless anti-hero and his psychotic sidekick... and if you dont mind having really poor aiming.
What's good?
Music is top notch, it creates great atmosphere and works well with great visuals - especially enviroment destruction looks nice.
Action sequences are great. You have plenty of work to do and maps mostly allows you to take different routes and approaches. Flank you opponents, use covers and smoke granades, blow them with frags, take them in frontal attack or grab in close combat, all of this in quite memorable places like rave club.
Also you will have elements like mentioned in title BiA. You can give orders to yout teammates and give them weapons during missions to use them later in certain roles. Even if you just keep them following, they are capable of doing thing on their own ... with some success.
What failed?
Shooting is poorly made. Bullets flies to random places, what maked firing at anything further than 10-20 meters quite a challenge. Your granades will bounce of covers behind which you are hiding or even of you buddies, if they're standing to close to you. You can, however, get used to all of it, reach some kind of profiency and beat levels even on hard.
Story - Its messed. You will feel, that you missed maybe previous game or few starting chapters. Your protagonists are chasing one McGuffin after another, they summon allies for literally nowhere, Kane always has a "genius" plan which makes no sense, all characters has weird and complex relations that arent really explained etc. Also psychological aspect seems to fall shortly, as Kane's parental feeling are so annoying shallow. He cause allies, foes and bystenders alike die in order to save his dauther from bad guys, only to deliver lines of overly emotional sunday daddy.
