Jupiter Hell is a classic, turn-based roguelike set in a 90s flavored sci-fi universe. Set on the moons of Jupiter, the game pits a lone space marine against overwhelming demonic forces. Rip and tear zombies, demons and unmentionable monstrosities, using classic weaponry such as shotguns, chainguns, railguns and the trusty chainsaw. All to the shine of CRT monitors and the tune of heavy metal!

Benefit from classic roguelike turns with modern shooter sensibilities. Controls are immediate and accessible while retaining the back-end depth of a turn-based RPG.
Meaningful RPG progression
Customize your character with new weapons, items and abilities gained as you progress through a permadeath-prone hell. Beat the game to unlock more difficult challenges rather than grinding to make the game easier.
Randomized levels set all over Jupiter’s orbit
Blast through procedurally-generated civilian sectors, military space bases and mining colonies on the violent moons of Jupiter. Every playthrough you’ll find new ways to experience familiar settings.
Original shooter roguelike lineage
Jupiter Hell is built by ChaosForge, the team that’s been making top-down, cosmic hell roguelikes since 2002.

Great implementation of classic roguelike game style in modern way. Addicting game with smooth gameplay loop that keep you hooked. Player moves one square and (usually) all enemies move one square or attack etc. One more run definetily affects me since I'll never stop playing after I get killed. Only played on Hard difficulty (until I will unlock ultraviolence or nightmare). From this I've noticed that if not play with care you can get killed in the first level. This is true roguelike and I've played these kind of games from early 90's. It's great to see a new game that follows traditional roguelike elements with modern look and feel.
Additional note: UI and effects have nice touch of old times :)
The big PRO's are the following:
-Easy to understand Gameplay mechanics (and clear Tutorial)
-Good Controller Setup
-Really Fast-Paced Gameplay with tactical "Doom-Feeling"
-Absolute Classical RL-Feeling combined with atmospheric 3D-Graphics
In my Opinion perfect in Combination with Podcasts
My first impression of Jupiter Hell is similar to what most reviewers describe. The presentation is, for a roguelike, rock solid. Music is metal. Oneliners thrown at every corner, and guns with impact. “Take That!”
A few runs in, every game start to feel the same: Same floor, same layout, same gun, same enemy. Mechanics don’t offer you options. Yes, a soldier can reduce pain; a technician can throw a smoke screen, but typically only once every level. You find grenades, one or two in a level. Sometimes you hit the jackpot with 5 grenades, only to realize you can take only 1 or have to drop a stimpack. J. Hell does not surprise.
You can spend a few perks to sprint. This gets you out of the nasty situation, like a Kerberos dog biting your leg. Unfortunately, you cannot use it till next level. Btw. there is hardly any use of sprint other than run away from dogs and on occasion get you into safe cover. Perhaps JH is meant to be played differently? Perhaps, I should use the one special my character has only when really needed? Between those instances, it does not matter what character I play: I move carefully, stay behind cover, and spam the fire button when sighting enemies. They walk up to me anyway (totally ignorant of cover) and they drop. The only criterion to get further is to not forget the 12ga jackhammer and find enough healing packs to survive the next wave of fire fiends.
Damn, “Something’s gone wrong… really fucking wrong”. Well it only takes roughly an hour to be back on the same level, with the same gear and skills, but this time I promise myself to not rush mindlessly into the next room. My brain is on electric stim: “Blood for the Blood God!”
As someone who spent hours in DRL and loved it, I cannot but love Jupiter Hell. Yes, it's a rogue-like where you have to weight every step or you die. But at the same time it feels like playing an action game with the adrenaline rush of the demon hordes descending upon you.
It's a challenging game, but I would say the difficulty is set well: On easy, you can finish it, well, pretty easy without too much thinking. Beyond that, it gets interesting. I especially like the callenge modes.
